The colour fits well in the kitchen and can be put away in a cupboard when not in use. The size is more than adequate for four people unless you want to eat it over two days? Dont use loads of liquid unless you are thickening it as it doesnt absorb like hob cooking. Easy to wash up when finished with and smells divine when you come in from work. I have now purchased two (cheap from Amazon) cook books and the recipes are brilliant.
Although slightly more expensive than the stainless steel version, it looks good, the cream and warm grey is a homely combination fits well in my country kitchen, there's no problem in having it on permanent display - no hiding it away in a cupboard and forgotten, and it's just the right size for my needs. I can make basic soups and stews, with one meal now and freeze 2-4 single portions for another day.
It has taken some getting used to, being quite the opposite to a microwave for speed, so planning well in advance is essential.
This slow cooker has become a firm favourite and highly recommended.
The size is perfect for feeding a family of four with some left over to freeze for another day.
Good price for a decent quality brand.
I first tried a vegetable curry recipe which came with the cooker. This was pretty good, enjoyed by my husband and I, but the kids were less enthusiastic!
Next I made a 'Cowboy Pie': basically mince, onions and beans! Thought this would appeal to the kids more. I found it a little bland and a bit anaemic looking although I did brown the meat off first. I think this was more to do with the recipe that the cooker.
Thankfully I purchased a seperate recipe book at the same time: just as well as there are only a few recipes in the accompanying leaflet.
Looking forward to trying more recipes out in it.
By carefully selecting your ingredients this cooks things well, and doesn't burn your house down even if left cooking overnight or whilst away from the home (this was a concern).
I found that LOW was too low other than to keep things warm (once cooked) and MED was OK for a longer cooking time but HIGH really did get things bubbling along nicely.
It's going to take a little more practice from me to get things just right each time but this is truly a great product and I'm glad I bought it.
Tip: Start with something very simple and make it more complicated once you have gained confidence and experience.
