My title says it all. This is the best anime series since the original Fullmetal Alchemist out there. I took a gamble getting the Part 1 & 2 of this series without much knowledge of the story and its producer. I was so impressed after just the first episode.

The storyline was fantastic. It captured my interest from the very first episode and continued to do so until the end. Each episode filled with excitement and anxiousness... I was anxious to see what would Balsa (the female bodyguard - main character) do next. It was exciting to see her fight off pursuers too.

Each characters were well written. They all have their pasts and their stories to tell, and their stories were told so swiftly, totally blended into the main storyline without feeling the scenes to be a filler. Well done! I don't expect anything less from the GITS:SAC director, Kenji Kamiyama.

The graphics were good too. I regretted not getting the Bluray because this series is a keeper for sure. The animation was smooth and beautiful. Thumb's up.

Overall, I absolutely loved and adored this series. I haven't felt such passion for an anime series for a long time (since Fullmetal Alchemist) and I am an avid anime fan. If you are too, don't hesitate on this DVD. You'll never regret buying this. I watched the entire 26 episodes in just 1 week and that says something about this series. :)

The wandering bodyguard for hire Balsa is on her way to get her spear repaired when she witnesses a member of the Yogo fall into a river. After saving the boy, the second prince of Yogo, she is summoned by the boys' mother who wishes to hire her to protect her son from the people trying to kill him. The young prince, Chagum, has apparently been possessed by a demon and as such his father, the Mikado, has ordered his death to prevent a prophesied drought.

This first of two sets of episodes from the `Morbito: Guardian of the Spirit' anime contains thirteen episodes over two discs. The series is entertaining with a good plot and some interesting characters. The animation is good, the battles are also very well done and very entertaining to watch and the English dub is watchable. The series is very entertaining and while I probably wouldn't say it is one of my favourite series, it is definitely well worth watching and I will definitely get the next volume. Overall I feel that this first volume deserves somewhere between four and four and a half stars and I feel that the series only gets better.

This is a ripping yarn, suitable for anyone but young children. There is some violence, though not graphic, and some scary bits. The story (taken from a series of novels) is excellent, and the visualisation in the anime was excellent. I would have given it, and the second volume DVD 5 stars, but the frame per second rate is just a little bit too low causing the flow to be a bit disjointed. Younger watchers from a non-Japanese background might have some trouble keeping the names of all the characters straight, but this is more of a problem in the novels. I gave it to my neighbour's boys, who are 8 and 10, and they liked it a lot.
