The blurb for this book completely drew me in, it promised a steamy sports romance and that’s exactly what I got! Well, the focus wasn’t so much on the sports part…unless it’s the bedroom kind…but there were undertones of that element all the way through. Especially with Noah’s backstory. I found the plot really refreshing with the emotional role reversal. I loved that Harlow’s standoffishness not only served as a sexual tension builder, but also kept me on the edge of my seat in regards to whether she would let Noah in. This is a no strings attached kind of romance with the celebrity chasing the help. Not that there is much chasing, they both know exactly what they are after and what they need from one another. The chase in this book is very much emotional. However the physical and sexual chemistry between Noah and Harlow is tongue tying, mouth drying, pantie wetting and nipple hardening hot. This plot is so complex, yet so easy to read and grasp. It’s got layer upon layer of feeling and emotion and character. I found that the story ebbed and flowed organically and honestly? I just couldn’t put it down.
I found the characters in this book actually rather brilliant. You can feel the deep connection that Ms. Black has with her characters which translates beautifully onto the page.Yes, I had a bit of trouble understanding Harlow at first, which meant that it took me longer to empathise with her. However, as story went on and I got to know and understand her I found myself tethered to her to the point that I felt like I were a part of her. If that makes sense. I could feel all the conflicting feelings and emotions coursing through her. I could identify with her reservations and her doubts. She is tough nut to crack in that she is strong and independent and she isn’t one to suffer fools. Her internal battle and her back and forth do get a little frustrating, however as her demons come into the light it’s easy to understand why. I loved that Noah served not only as a tool to bring her out of her shell, but also as way of allowing the reader to see her for who she really is. Saying that, he does have demons of his own, especially with his career, however I liked that he was straightforward. I loved that he was easy to love and to empathise with. He’s a strong, sexy and multifaceted character that exceeded my every expectation. I really loved these two and in the end I was so disappointed there wasn’t more. Not that the ending was disappointing. There is nothing about this book that is so.
More Than Love You really is a compelling and beautiful romance. It is HOT. AS. F*CK. It is enthralling and endearing. It’s just brilliant. From the writing to the development to pacing…it’s verging on flawless. I really cannot wait for the next book in the series, and in the mean time I will most certainly be diving into the first two books—More Than Want You and More Than Need You.
This is the third book in the More than Words series and I think you need read the others first so you will know what is going on with Harlow's brothers to understand more about their horrible parents. You see a little of Harlow in the brother's stories and a little about her life but this really sheds light on why she is the way she is.
Noah Weston is a retired football player and being the famous quarterback, he wants to be a sports announcer. Moving back to his roots, an ocean-front view is what he needs for a little peace and quiet. When he arrives at his new home, there is a sexy woman in a tiny red bikini that fulfills all his fantasies. What he realizes just by talking to this woman is not just beautiful, she is smart, funny, stubborn, determined, wild and doesn't trust easily.
Harlow Reed is house sitting until the football star takes over his house. When he shows up early, she doesn't know how to handle the attraction she feels for him. After he has one of his episodes, he mentions they both could help each other. She stays, helps him and they continue to have incredible sex. Harlow is all for that as long as he doesn't fall for her. She doesn't believe in love and that is all because of her sleaze-ball parents.
Can Noah show Harlow that falling in love isn't that hard part? Will Harlow be able to tell Noah about her past? Can they make a future together? Will Noah be able to take the announcers job?
I loved this story and Harlow and Noah were the perfect couple. They were funny, had the faults and fears and in the end, their story was great. I wanted to reach in and beat her parents with a 2x4 several times, are their real people like that? Anyway, a perfect story and I hope Evan will get his story and an HEA.
**Wicked Reads Review Team**
I thought that Harlow and Noah were engaging and I found the way the author told their story completely captivating, they weren’t complicated but that doesn’t mean that either they or their story was easy because it wasn’t.
The story was fairly astute but dint take anything for granted. It was easy to get a handle on what was going on, but I don’t think that that should go against it because in all honesty that wasn’t actually the most important thing, the real play was not where but how…that was for me the crux of the story. Their journey, the path they took and the reasoning behind those decisions were what came across for me.
The romance was there, of course but this was more than that, it was total engagement two souls that belonged together, that spoke directly to each other and that were singing from the same page., although it was no shock that Harlow was a little slower off the mark than Noah.
The understanding that lay between them spoke volumes without them having to say much, and that was real romance, authentic connection and it was beautifully determined and expressed by the author.
I felt as if I could have been reading about friends, the human element of the story shone through, it may have been the honesty of the story that won me over but it was the quality of the work that kept me entertained.
