HASH(0x8efd0354) out of 5 stars Great quilts, whether or not you've read the books. 14 Dec. 2011
By J. Olsen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Featuring eleven quilts mentioned in five of Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek Quilts novels, this book features many traditional block patterns in the designs. There are three sampler quilts in the mix and three of the quilts include some applique. Though Jennifer's careful instructions could make it possible for a beginner to complete some of the designs without too much trouble, there is no rating system for the quilts in the book to let people know what difficulty level to expect. There are quilts that include set-in seams, curved seams, and some of them require making templates from the paper diagrams included. I don't think this book is geared to beginning level quilters.
The beautiful quilts are divided into sections by the books from which they come. At the beginning of each section you will find character sketches of people from the book, and some excerpts that mention the quilts in the patterns.
You don't need to have read the novels to appreciate the quilts featured, but being familiar with the novels may give you a stronger attachment to one pattern or another. I had only read one of the novels when I picked up this book. I hadn't read any of the novels mentioned in this book, but I love the quilts.

HASH(0x8efc9ba0) out of 5 stars Wonderful quilt book- a must have 15 Sept. 2011
By Re Naves - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is a wonderful quilt book, and in my opinion a must have! I have bought all of the Elm Creek quilt novels. As well, I have purchased all three of the quilting books that go along with the Elm Creek novels. The quilting books are wonderful and have some beautiful quilts in them. This last one is the best of all the quilting books. I love it!

What can I say to describe the Elm Creek Quilt pattern books. They are fantastic to look at and offer clear instructions for building quilts including full size patterns. This book is a wonderful addition to the quilter's library as well as a colorful addition to the coffee table. When you get tired of looking at the pattern books, read Jennifer Chiaverini's books that will introduce you to the women behind the creation of the quilts.
HASH(0x8ed20a5c) out of 5 stars Great collection of quilt patterns 17 Jun. 2014
By R. Neighbors - Published on Amazon.com

This collection of antique quilt patterns is well written and well illustrated. The instructions for each of the patterns are clear; the history of the pattern is also interesting, AND these are the patterns mentioned in Jennifer Chiaverini's quilting series of books. I hope to give her entire collection of fiction and these quilt project books to my nieces.

I read the Elm Creek quilt themed fictional books. These pattern books match the quilts mentioned in the books. It's really fun to actually see the quilts, plus the patterns are clear, well written and the illustrations are very clear! The Wedding Quilt: An Elm Creek Quilts NovelAn Elm Creek Quilts Sampler: The First Three Novels in the Popular Series (Elm Creek Quilters Novels)
