I am really looking forward to the next book.
Firstly I love Tracy Tappan, both the wings of gold and bloodline wars so as you would expect the writing is very good, some good humour sprinkled in as well which enjoy. I would recommend reading the previous books first ( there is a community box set, books 1-3 available) because they are fantastic but you could read this stand alone if you wanted.
I loved catching up with all the previous characters especially Toni and Jacken, it was great to see how all your old friends had got along. There are a lot of sub plots running through and they can be a double edged sword for me, sometimes they can take up too much space and distract from the main story. Thankfully this was absolutely not in this case, I enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed the main focus of the book.
I don't want to give a synopsis of the plot because the author does a good job of that. I will say I loved Breen (hero), his initial description conjures up thoughts of dirty rock and roll sexiness. He is so sweet with an air of innocence, he has been badly treated by his dad making him a bit of an introvert. He seems to ghost walk through life not really experiencing it. He finds it difficult to make himself heard and to communicate with others which throws up problems with his love.
I want to stress I very much enjoyed reading this but I personally had a real problem with Charlize, I found her self serving, immature and a total brat. She has no regards to the consequences her actions have to other people. As long as she is happy and her immediate wants are satisfied she could care less about anyone or anything else. Perhaps I liked Breen a little too much but I really thought he deserved better. You find out the reasons for her behaviour near the end of the book and her past is hinted at all the way through but for me if was too little too late. Although sympathetic to her she was not redeemable in my eyes.
I think it shows how much I really did enjoy the story that Charlize didn't detract from my enjoyment and giving a five stars rating. I would highly recomend.
I received an ARC very gratefully from the author in exchange for an honest review but i have paid for a copy anyway, its that good!! Thank you for reading my opinions, i recommend this book and series most highly.............
