I downloaded this as a free book. Its a really good read for just chilling and wasteing time. Once you start reading its very hard to put down. The story doesnt leave you hanging but it does make you wonder what Kate is going to come up with next. I recomemend this book for anyone who enjoys a good fiction read with supernatural creatures =) Cannot wait for the next book to be published in the spring

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Ride Through Familiar Avenues 13 May 2014
By Bradley Peterson - Published on Amazon.com

Moon Over Monsters is a fantastic read for young adults as well as adults. I loved Christina, the sassy sarcastic protagonist and her development throughout remained true to her age as well as her growth. She was vulnerable and insecure and strong and confident. The world of the monsters, which consist of Elves, dwarfs and fairies is well built and a careful not to break traditional character elements.

Christina finds her way into a huge kingdom that is hidden in a small forest in Germany. She fights to rebuild the protective shield that hides this kingdom from a world of brutal humans with magical powers that come from her unique lineage. All the while slowly falling for an Elf Prince. It is also refreshing to learn that the humans weren't the only brutal forces but that all parties had a fault to play in the brutal history leading to the separation of the two worlds.

This story is so fun and enchanting and Kate Mathis delicately sets up the next installment in this series by leaving doors open but teasing what lays beyond. Who is the King of the magical word and where is he? Will Christina remember what she experienced? Where is the dragon and Croket?
I highly recommend this read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it 21 Jan. 2013

When I first saw the title, I was not too excited. I did not know what to expect. The title makes some sense after you read the book. It is a story of Elves, and dragons, and humans, and fairies. It is well written and you fall for the characters and their quirks. Even though the heroine is young (16) I felt like she was an adult and it didn't matter much. She has some tough decisions, even if she has a genius IQ. It is a cliff hanger though. There has to be another book...... I am desperate to find out what happens next....Hopefully It will come soon. I could not put the story down and I would recommend this book. The book is pretty tame in today's market, making it suitable for teens and adults.

Added note: Hold tight. I couldn't wait to find out when the next book was coming out, so I wrote the author. She says it will probably be this fall for the next book. I can't wait!

4.0 out of 5 stars Who is the REAL monster? 13 July 2012

I really enjoyed this book. I found myself wondering what would happen to Christina next. It stayed at a steady pace and did not bore me. I loved the connection between Christina and Raven. The only thing that I did not like was that it was written, apparently, for a sequel. I think that the book should have ended a little better, instead of already preparing for another one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Anxiously awaiting the next chapter... 8 Jan. 2014

This book was a wonderful beginning to Christina's newly discovered destiny. I purchased the book for my daughter, but I always read first, and I'll admit I am sucked in, hoping for the 2nd book...soon!
