You'll love this book if: You're someone who wouldn't even normally flock to this genre. It's that good. Mysterious, enticing, and just plain fun!
THE STORY: 21 year old Cordelia is on vacation with her family in beautiful Colombia. They set sail for a day cruise when the most horrific of nightmares occurs. What follows is a tale of transcendence; of other worlds coming alive and merging with reality in an intense and powerful fashion. And that is all I will tell you, because to give anything else away would be crummy on my part. This is not a story to be spoiled!
MY THOUGHTS: As previously said, this is not a genre that I would normally turn to, but being that I A) Adore this author, and B)Loved the cover, I decided to give it a go. Still slightly unsure about what I'm embarking on, I read the prologue. OH YES! This is going to be good... real good, my friends! Immediately I'm plunged into a majestic world of indigo waters, talking dolphins, and all things Mer-life. It is just fabulous!! I'm happy as a clam (no pun intended,) being wrapped up and deeply immersed in this phenomenal yet unique story.
I have discovered after reading two of Becky Wicks' books, (The Day of the Wave.. freaking amazing!) that her style is one of broad emotion, creating an all- encompassing experience. Her books are deep and meaningful, and take your mind and heart on a journey that ends all too soon. I'm in awe of the vision and creativeness spilling from her works. The story telling, the writing, the setting, and the characterization are mesmerizing and perfect for this happy reader!
The only thing missing? A sequel!!
Additionally, the two main characters' obsession with unrequited sexual attraction was beginning to detract from the interesting story line. They experienced attractions beyond sexuality and it would've been more intriguing to focus on those. For me. YMMV.
It is written in first person with two POV.
The sex scenes were descriptive above the waist and implied below, including oral.
