This cd of original music from the upcoming documentary on synthesizer pioneer Bob moog is really an amazing compilation of music. Tracks from a wide-range of musicians from Money Mark to Bernie Worrell to Roger O'Donnell of The Cure to Stereolab to Tortoise. With the group of artists it would have been hard to go wrong. Stereolab's track 'Variation One' buzzes with the sounds of the Moog synth with a great pop melody. The Tortoise track is deep and dark. Charlie Clouser of Nine Inch Nails comes in with a synth-rocking number. The film comes to London in February. Personally I can't wait.

4.0 out of 5 stars Forward-Focused Vs. Ancient History 8 Dec. 2004
By Danny Drums - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Those funky, warm sounds of the Moog synthesizer always make a mark. This soundtrack is really quite an accomplishment. Seems like the folks that put it all together didn't have some sort of agenda to put all the "moog masters" on there and the soundrack greatly benefits from it. They seemed to focus on artists who are making the most interesting sounds with the Moog at present, rather than toy around with ancient history. This record has some of the most amazing new electronic music being created today by the likes of Stereolab, Tortoise, Bernie Worrell and Bootsy Collins, and Roger O'Donnell. Newer artists really add something special with their contributions. I haven't heard of all the bands on this disc but I'm certain I will soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! 14 Sept. 2004
By JRP - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Wow! What an amazing record! Just when you thought there wouldn't be any more great Moog albums to come out here comes this compilation soundtrack to the upcoming feature film. Stereolab is back in full force with a classic synth track, Charlie Clouser (from Nine Inch Nails) comes in with some of the most wicked drum beats I've heard in a long while, and Tortoise brings to the table as emotional a track as I've heard them produce. I'm not familiar with all the artists on the album but there are other great tracks by 33, The Album Leaf, and Pete Devriese. Can't wait to see the film when it hits a town near me. The second disc is also outstanding with "classic" tracks from ELP, YES, and DEVO.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool as Ice 9 Jan. 2005
By Herman Pine - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Couldn't be a cooler soundtrack this year than Moog. Even if you aren't the biggest fan of synthesizer music (and I am not) this is still an amazing cd. Great songs by Bernie Worrell with Bootsy Collins on vocals and The Album Leaf. I also like the songs by Pete DeVriese and Money Mark (of the Beastie Boys). Really cool stuff. A bonus disc is also included (while not on the packaging) with all the great prog rock and new wave contributions of Moog synthesizer music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something for Everyone 16 Nov. 2004
By Anna Korbel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Just caught the Moog documentary in Los Angeles and went out and picked up the soundtrack. Very cool movie and sweet sounds on the record. The best songs are the more dance-focused ones from Electric Skychurch, Psilonaut, and Meat Beat Manifesto. From what I undertand the first disc is made up entirely of exclusive music produced specifically for the film. The second disc has all the familiar Moog classics like Emerson, Lake, and Palmer & Yes. Basically the cd has something for everyone who has an ear for electronic music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Audio definitions of the Moog sound 3 Nov. 2004
By _Michael - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This soundtrack for the Moog documentary is very well put together. The first disk contains all original music made for the movie. They all sound very nice. My favorite track is Charlie Clouser's "I Am A Spaceman."

If you like the Moog synthesizer sound, or are curious what the synthesizers can do, I recommend this album.
