Montpelier is an act of genius. Jane Taylor's lyrics, guitar playing and melodies combine to produce some of the most worthwhile music I've heard in some time. I first heard her on Radio 2 sessions and was immediately struck by her emotional honesty but also the way she does not drift into lullaby folk. The songs are well structured and carefully honed, avoiding the usual tendency of similar artists to strum into head lolling oblivion. I am very impressed and would thoroughly recommend this artist to anyone who likes all genres of music, admires true quality and enjoys emotinal immediacy in their listening. An excellent debut. Can't wait to catch her and the band live!

'Montpelier' is one of those cd's that comes around once in a blue moon that just knocks the socks off anything you've heard before. It oozes class and offers you such honesty and emotion it really gets into your very soul. I'm sure this is one cd that'll remain on the prominent shelf of your cd rack for years to come. It's truly a masterpiece that Jane has created and I don't envy her task of following it up but if you see Jane at gigs and know her music you'll know that she'll keep on delivering beautifully crafted songs that everyone can relate to. Jane's song writing and vocal ability are amazing, she captures you in a way that no other can. Without hesitation buy this cd and you to can hear what everybody else has been talking about!

I first heard Jane and her band very recently one wet July afternoon while sat in a tent at a small music festival in Cornwall, head buried in my paper letting the afternoon acts come and go. Then Jane started and she just demanded my attention, this amazingly powerful yet delicate voice, with tunes and lyrics to match, it was like being beaten around the head with a fluffy pillow - I watched and listened in awe and couldn't believe she was playing to about 60 of us (well actually she was only playing to me - or so it felt).

Anyway listen to the track samples and you'll buy the album, it's one you'll have on repeat play trust me. I've played it in the office at work and two people have now bought a copy after what they heard - enough said?

I first heard of Jane Taylor through Dawson's Creek, where they played "Getting To Me". I instantly fell in love with her unwinding voice and her mellow lyrics; a truly amazing album that you must own. She's one of those rare artists who you'll enjoy, no matter what mood you're in. Inspirational and playful, a true work of art.

This album was given to me by a friend who had heard Jane on Radio 2 and thought I would like it. How right she was!! The album is amazing and I haven't stopped listening to it since she gave it to me at Christmas. The clever, soulful lyrics will have you in tears and wishing you could express yourself in the way Jane does. 'Getting to me' is a fabulous song and one of my favourites, 'Fall on me' and 'Blowing this Candle Out' are also gorgeous, rich songs that are like a duvet on a cold, rainy day. If you buy one album in 2006, make it this one!

I heard Jane Taylor on BBC Radio 2 on the Johnnie Walker show and fell in love with her music. I sent off for the album and it is absolutely gorgeous. Great melodies, intelligent lyrics and a voice that just 'affects' you. Leaves it's mark. It's honest. It's real music, with real musicians and a real heart to it. I can't stop playing it and everyone I know that has this album, is reacting in the same way....BUY IT you will not regret it at all.

I've first saw Jane performing when i was with a friend at a quiet little coffee place in Bath early 2004, and simply fell in love with her singing. Since then, i go to as many gigs as i can get to. There's not many singers around who write their own songs, but the songs that Jane write are simply magical. Brillant songwriter, amazing voice, talented band, what more can i say? Now waiting for the next album.

Was lucky enough to catch this talented little lady in Edinburgh when supporting Paul Buchanan. She is a great live act and I would go and see her as a solo artist any time, a terrific powerful voice and wonderful lyrics. I had to have the album, bought two copies at the gig (One for a friend) and was not dissapointed. Give your ears a treat :-)
