My favourite line: she knows what she wants out of life ...just quality and love.
We can get so caught up working hard, we forget what we're working for.
Austin Zabrinski was always in the limelight. There was nothing he liked better, after all he was the Harvard grad, working for a Congressman. Yet as they say the higher in ego, the harder they fall and Austin was about to learn that the hard way. Coming home to Montana to lick his wounds and figure out his life seemed to be the thing to do, he just didn’t realize it was going to be so hard.
Serena and Austin meet as neighbors and through Alpaca and there poop learn what it’s like to trust others. However when the biggest changes occur will they leave each other and return to their previous lives? Or will they realize that together they are so much better than they ever were apart?
Back to Marietta which is such an amazing town to be in we find Austin and Serena. This story is part of a bigger series involving Austin’s family and while can be read alone is much better if you have the background of the family and I’m hopeful is leading into the new stories. This particular story is well written and a quick read. While not as involved emotionally as some of the others in the series it does add more detail to the series and appears to be laying the groundwork for bigger and better. I’m excited to see where this heads.
Serena hopes she's left her own problems far behind her, and she's leased Austen's brother's ranch where her life is her herd of alpacas, a couple of llama's, and her dog. She's put her love life on hold and is focused on her business with her animals.
When Austen appears over her fence one day, she sees a man very easy on the eyes, but too pretty to be a cowboy. Something about Serena intrigues Austen, even if she's not his usual type of woman. One minute he's lost, the next minute he's helping Serena with her animals. Looking at Austen brings all of Serena's good parts to life...and the attraction is mutual. Serena likes sex and misses it, and maybe a roll in the hay with her hot neighbor is just what she needs.
They get that and much more as they spend more and more time together, getting to know each other, and really enjoy being together. Their bond grows stronger and even if no one expects him to stay, Serena finds herself hoping in her heart he will. When his life in Helena intrudes on his life in Marietta, Austen will have to make some big decisions. Should he be doing what's expected of him, or should he follow his own instincts and heart?
Nobody's Cowboy is a fast paced, fun romantic read. Debra writes so smoothly and really brings her characters to life. I loved Serena. She is independent and brave, she speaks her mind, and she knows what she wants. I love that she is not intimidated by Austen's interfering family, and neither is she deterred by them. She thinks because of her upbringing she's different - I think she's great! Austen is at a turning point in his life, and only he can decide what is right for him. I liked his relationship with his family, but I found them to be way to interfering in a grown man's life!
I really liked how Austen and Serena were together, they are mature and honest with one another. Neither of them is making demands of the other, instead they are accepting of each other and their lives.
I liked catching up with some of the secondary characters who I've seen in other Montana Born books, but Nobody's Cowboy stands strongly on it's own.
I'd recommend this entertaining, heart filling romance to any romance reader!
I was given a free copy of Nobody's Cowboy for an honest review.
Austen's been a cowboy in name only--he's had people to run his ranch while he was being a big city lawyer/political spin doctor. Until, his name was erroneously run through the mud. While his forensic account works on the trail to clear his name, he's hanging low and enjoying his ranch. While riding, fate steps in and he's at his neighbor's place asking for help.
Serena's starting over with her alpaca breeding business, hiding from a cyber stalker, and settling into life. Suddenly, she finds herself meeting her neighbor. Living, breathing, sexy cowboy! Not exactly how her landlord described his brother.
As they get to know each other, being neighbors and all, they make an arrangement with benefits, and he even helps her on the ranch--he's getting good at it. And good at other things, too. Suddenly, they're in over their heads--in denial it's love. A few other glitches ensue, and they have to decide--is it worth it? Austen, "Nobody's cowboy" is no longer the rogue, and independent Serena learns it's okay to trust and love, and taking a chance on love is their future. Loved how the bad boy became the good guy in the end!
