Everything about this book says quick knock-off. Its crudely written and often repeats itself. The author is often melodramatic and takes Wuornos' side only to admit later it might not have happened that way at all.
Its also a deception to call it My Story, passing it off as an autobiography. Wuornos was interviewed by Berry-Dee and thats all. The interviews arent worth much either, even the 50 pages of the police interview, included to pad it out.
If you've seen the movie this won't add anything new.
Avoid.

This book looks closely at Aileen's childhood which is extremely interesting but only highlights a 'typical' early profile of a serial killer. If you enjoy true crime this book is fairly enticing in parts, but is very repetitive in style and at points is very difficult to read due to the volume of extracted dialogue from Aileen's case. As a result, you sometimes 'get lost' reading the text. Not bad but don't expect too much!

An interesting killer indeed. It's a pity the author can't quite pull it off. Victims have very little to no background other than the day's events that lead to their demise. A good read but lacks background.

A keystone in modern criminology - Aileen has through Hollywood become a legend between serial killers. Monster offers an insight to this stardom and one only grieves the fact that the unanswered questions this wonderful book, based on interviews with Aileen herself, will never be answered.

I have all of this author's books. A very controversial man who delivers the goods with a strong punch. hated by man, respected by most, lets not forget that he solves murders when the police do not. Monster works well, and makes for powerful read. Like to give it 4 stars but three will do this time around.

Found this to be in adequate quality for a book I bought second hand. There was no notes or writing on the pages nor were the corners all dog eared etc. As for the book itself, I found this to be an eye opening insight in to the strange world of this tormented female serial killer. This would make a good read for anyone who is interested in the crime of serial killer genre
