Excellent docu about this quirky character who once worked for Frank Zappa.
He can probsably classed as an 'outsider artist' who just plods away at his vision regardless of recognition or monetary concerns.

This documentary is truly fascinating. The film deals with the life and work of Bruce Bickford, an amazingly talented animator who is probably best known for his work with Frank Zappa. It is sad and interesting, it deals with more than just the animators life, it also works as a window into the lives (triumphs and failures) of us all. I was truly moved and inspired by this film and it will be one I will return to.

It is no surprise that this documentary has won 5 "Best Documentary" awards (as advertised on back cover). This video is truly fascinating and offers an insight into the surreal world of Bruce Bickford and his animation. An essential purchase for anyone interested in animation and Zappa-fans who may want to know more about the animator behind films such as "Baby Snakes" and "The Dub Room Special" (there is hardly anything about his work with Frank Zappa, but do not let this put you off). It was a pleasant surprise to find several extras and deleted scenes, all of which were just as good/interesting as the main documentary. The amount of miniature sets, replacement models, characters, clay heads and clay body parts is overwhelming to comprehend, but this DVD gives you an idea of the extreme amount of energy and effort that goes into Bickford's work and it is very inspirational. Bickford's 28 minute "Prometheus' Garden" clay-mation film is also available from Amazon and is worth purchasing alongside this title - hopefully there will be more footage of Bickford's work in future releases from Brett Ingram.

Bruce Bickford is one of the most interesting artists I have ever come across, his clay animation work is nothing short of incredible, it has to be seen to be believed.
This is a fascinating documentary about a fascinating man.

An excellent film, about a curious but amazing/ outstanding animator. It's a documentary that puts Bruce Bickford in context but you can't help just wanting to watch his work.
