"For long time readers of the series, this omnibus brings together four of the best Pamplemousse stories. For the new reader it provides a good introduction to the world of Michael Bond's culinary mysteries and his delightful central character Monsieur Pamplemousse (and, of course, Pommes Frites)." Format: Paperback
This omnibus comprises of the first three novels in Michael Bond's Monsieur Pamplemousse series. Monsieur Pamplemousse, a former Surete detective and his companion Pommefritte, a bloodhound whose police career was ended prematurely by budget cuts are food inspectors for Le Guide. Le Guide's Stockpots are the equivalent of a Michelen star and its inspectors anonymous. The misadventures of man and dog thread their way through the countryside and food of France in a delightfully told fashion. There is nothing heart-rending or intellectually demanding here but for an enjoyable, humorous and slightly bawdy read this triple souffle from Mr Bond is hard to beat.

For anyone who hasn't met M. Pamplemouse, this is a banquet of slightly off beat, slightly silly, and enormously fun murder and mayhem.
Pamplemouse and his dog, pomme frittes, wander around the gastonomic countryside, answering life's most vital questions 'Is cassoulet really a regional dish?' - 'Who murdered all those old ladies?' That sort of thing. Mind stretching it is not. But it is a real feast of off color fun.

Without doubt the funniest series of books I have read. Written with humour, style and after a great deal of research. You will be hungry and thirsty and laughing at the same time.
