Charles Tremayne imagines that his final assignment for MI6 will be easy. All he has to do is get to the bottom of how government money went missing en route to paying off an African dictator. But the supposedly dim-witted Cornish villagers have already got their hands on the money and are ready to protect their new wealth by outwitting the secret services agent: redirecting signposts, getting him drunk on the lethal local cider, and almost succeeding in ploughing him down with a tractor. This book kept me hooked and smiling all the way through and I can't wait to read the author's "Return of the Hippy" next.

Well written, short, light (ie lot of white spaces on pages to reflect it). Enjoyable, undemanding. Ideal holiday book.Published 2 months ago by Peter H. Jackson
Rollicking read, in the grand old tradition of " Whisky Galore", bit predictable but great fun ; give it a try.Published 6 months ago by Amazon Customer
Grate fun, loved every page. I am currently reading a third book by David and enjoying it.Published 9 months ago by Richard H Smith
Constant contradiction in characters, a bit too much buffoonery for my liking. Part love story, very little spying and humour that didn't amuse me personally. Sorry.Published 10 months ago by F
