I wasn't sure, by the end, what this book was meant to be. It could have been a comedy or it could have been a thriller. Or it could have been a comedy thriller. In the end it seemed to be none of them. It starts off with elements of comedy, then becomes a very improbable action story. In the end it falls between all the above and is disappointing as a result.

What a fantastic story, with a great motley crew of characters, that blended together to make a fantastic read with some very funny parts that caused sometimes a wry smile, a titter or even full scale laughter. A joy to read

An modern take on the "whisky galore" story only this time it's banknotes!.. Fast paced and full of credible characters, there's plenty of scope for a sequel - if so I'll be the first to buy it.

I have to accept that this story appealed to me initially as it is set in the County where I was born ... I did enjoy the read and could see some of the "character" of the County - born quite clearly. I will be recommending this to friends.

This is a very funny crime / thriller book and is an enjoyable read. The fictional village is well drawn and there are a host of weird and wonderful characters. I docked a star off it because it of all the typos, missing words in the script and wrongly used words ( e.g. two instead of to). The book would benefit from a more thorough editing process and being resubmitted!

Although a spy story set in modern day Cornwall, this book's innocent, feel-good humour and celebration of an eccentric and subversive community spirit reminds me very much of the fabulous Ealing comedy films of the '50s. And I loved it just as much!

Charles Tremayne imagines that his final assignment for MI6 will be easy. All he has to do is get to the bottom of how government money went missing en route to paying off an African dictator. But the supposedly dim-witted Cornish villagers have already got their hands on the money and are ready to protect their new wealth by outwitting the secret services agent: redirecting signposts, getting him drunk on the lethal local cider, and almost succeeding in ploughing him down with a tractor. This book kept me hooked and smiling all the way through and I can't wait to read the author's "Return of the Hippy" next.

Excellent light hearted comedy novel with
A humorous twist on the secret agent theme. The
Author has a zany take on life in the modern day world for that group of aging professionals . Through the eyes of his careworn hero on his final mission we get a comedy insight into the lives of villagers of a sleepy Cornish hamlet. As they are disrupted by aquiring a large amount of cash by Dubious means and the effects of this happening and the chaos that takes place!

Farce? Thriller? Comedy? All of these. Saw some criticism that it could not make it's mind up, but actually was delighted by this book. The characters are really well developed, and I found myself really caring about them. Yet again this was another book let down by poor editing / proof reading. Grammatical errors abound which are annoying and divert the reader's attention from the story. Will definitely look to see what else the author has released.
