There was plenty of back story and secondary characters peppered through the tale and while they all added the required elements that I think the author had anticipated, it was the main characters that certainly lived up to their billing because they were both engaging and likeable.
Cadence is trying to move on to change things up a bit and live for the moment as the title would suggest but is she really ready to grab the opportunities that present themselves?
Luken was a confusion for Cadence, one she didn’t see coming and in some respects didn’t know how to deal with. But while she dithered, Luken was making darn sure that what he wanted didn’t slip through his fingers…namely Cadence.
Convincing Cadence that he was certain of what he wanted and that, that did in fact mean her, was a tougher gig than it should have been, I don’t think I would have needed telling twice, the guy was such a sweetheart! But that being said, please don’t think he was a push over far from it, he tested her boundaries and made her face up to things that she would have rather left well alone and he did it all with an air of calm and caring that tempered his stubbornness.
I thought Cadence was almost searching for an escape route at times, looking for a way out that would finally see Luken give up on her and walk away, little did she know that this guy was in it for the long haul and wasn’t willing to let her deter him.
A sweet read that swallowed up just enough of my time to leave me feeling absolutely content.
I thought I only liked first and young love romances. Twice now, first with The Dance and then with In The Moment, Alison has proved to me that I also love second loves and romances that happen later in life.
In The Moment is the story of Cadence and Luken. An event in Cadence's life changed her outlook on everything especially how she felt about herself. Luken came into her life at exactly the right moment and made her feel beautiful, sexy and wanted again. She didn't accept Luken's feelings easily so there were plenty of swoon worthy moments while Luken tried to win Cadence over.
Once again this book is clearly well researched and handles delicate subjects beautifully. Alison really knows how to evoke feelings in her readers. This is a short book that can be read in just a few hours but it is full of characters you will find yourself caring deeply about. This is a heartwarming story that packs an emotional punch.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
Luken and Cadence are those rare characters that will FOREVER stay with me. Their romance is magical, and they are destined to be together, even though Cadence refuses to accept that Luken is her destiny. He is quite a bit younger than her, but he has the soul of an older, more mature man. He challenges her perception of life and happiness even though you would think she has learned that life can completely change in the blink of an eye. She also doesn’t want him to give up his life dreams because of the age difference. Through their relationship, readers will learn love knows no age or boundaries.
The book is a novella, but there is no shortage on emotion or substance. I love a story that speaks to my heart, and Alison G. Bailey definitely knows how to speak to my heart. Like Luken, she always challenges my thinking on things, and I admire, respect, and love that. Her stories don’t just entertain me, they move me! Those kind of novels are magical!
