There is something about this book which is very very funny - in fact it has made me laugh harder at times than anything else. I can't put my finger on what makes it so great - a combination of exceptionally well placed profanity and knowing, slightly satirical surrealism makes it genius I suppose. Mister Tourette is undoubtedly the star of the show - I get the feeling that although each strip featuring him is based on the same premise, I could read an infinite number of them and laugh every time.
If you object to profanity or nihilism then you may not take to this. But if you appreciate it for what it is, and enjoy the fact that the bad artwork just adds to the humour, then I don't think you'll find a funnier book.
On a side note, I wouldn't relate this book to its corresponding channel 4 TV series - I found the series rubbish compared to the book.

About the Author
Jon Link and Mick Bunnage first worked together on the Modern Toss prototype cartoon strip 'Office Pest' for Loaded magazine in the mid 90's. Ten years later, during which time Jon designed Jack Magazine and art directed 'Content' for Taschen, the Toss empire was born. Jon and Mick, who share drawing and writing duties throughout the comic, now regularly contribute cartoons to a broad range of publications including The Guardian and the Daily Mirror. They have also developed Modern Toss into a TV series for Channel 4. They are both from Essex.

stomach still hurting from laughing too much

I laughed.
I laughed again.
Then i looked around to make sure no-one had noticed the childish book in front of me, full of profanities.
And i laughed some more.

The Mr Tourette character does appalling damage to all the efforts of those who seek to convey a better understanding and more tolerant approach to sufferers of this neurological disorder. This book provides a mocking stereotyped portrayal of Tourette Syndrome which in around 90% of cases does not include the much celebrated (and laughed at) symptom of coprolalia (using obscene words inappropriately). Would it be tolerable to also make fun of those with autism, diabetes, cerebral palsy or the physically disabled. The media depiction of this syndrome means many sufferers are too ashamed to speak openly of their condition for fear of ridicule. This book and the whole Mr Tourette concept is in extremely poor taste and should not be patronised. It is comedy at the expense of others torment.
