For anyone who is serious about their herbs this book is brilliant. It gives you comprehensive descriptions of each herb including the medicinal attributes, any folklore and other names which a herb may have been known by. It's not really a book for identifying herbs, it has a few black and white pictures but it is excellent for anyone who wishes to know more information about each herb and if you want to study herbalism.

I have this book, it is amazing, has every side of every aspect, be it history, folklore or modern usage, also quote of old and recipes, if I could know and remember all the information within this book Id be ecstatic and rightly proud, Ive had this book many years and it was my mothers before me, absolutely priceless whatever condition it is in, its contents are also on line so you can actually read its entries there too, but I by far prefer the real thing, it has to be the best book I own, complex but you can pick out what you need to know, as in depth or as lightly as you wish, and I think that is the real beauty of this book, you do not need years of experience or any qualification to understand it but if you are in mid qualification or practicing I have no clue how you could be without it

Though there are errors in this now quite old book (1930's) it still hasn't been bettered for readability, breadth and information freely given. Maude Grieve is the giant on whos shoulder many now stand. In particular that literary raider Richard Mabey who it appears lifted most of "Food for free" from this book along with much other stuff.

A great book for all you herbalists.
Service was fast and dedicated.
Overall I was very pleased with the content of the book, it is a must for anyone who is interested in herbs as Grieve has produced the bible for the subject here, with both volumes in one it is a book that I will keep for ever. I have used it for reference many times.
