4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad 5 Aug. 2009
By V. Le
It was very simple to setup: pop out the little tray and stick the supplied simcard into it and then plug the dongle into a usb slot!
The only problem I have with this, is that the o2 software is a bit buggy (OS: Win7 RC) and crashes a lot whilst it tries to connect, but it works well once it does connect. The signal strength in my area of London is always at "very good" so its relatively fast for mobile internet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Was worth the money 6 Aug. 2009
I was very happy with it, did a good job for me while I was renting with no Wireless internet, speed was consistent & I liked the software, particularly it's wireless manager & hot-spot locator.
Overall, I was very pleased, only thing I would say is that a reasonable length USB extension lead is definitely needed as sometimes you'll need it to have a better signal.

4.0 out of 5 stars snow leopard is a problem 19 Sept. 2009

modem software crashes when trying to load at first, this is a well known problem, however the way round this is to not use the auto install but open the mac folder on the dongle and just install the driver. after that manually enter the dial up settings, buy some airtime from o2 and away you go.
also O2 should be ashamed of themselves not publishing this easy workround on their support site!! especially as they won the iphone contract from apple

3.0 out of 5 stars Good enough... 13 July 2009
Most of these dongles seem to be the same hardware in a diffferent coloured plastic shell. So the main differences are in the service providers coverage and the enclosed software.
Personally I did not like the O2 software and preferred the Vodafone which is more informative.
I have not yet seen the dongle manage to pickup on 3G.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works but not as good as they say. 27 Oct. 2009
Verified Purchase
After a receiving this dongle, I first had trouble getting the SIM card inserted and when I did the dongle's signal wasn't as high as I was led to believe. I used the coverage indicator on 02's website which said my area was excellent but the signal is actually very low. I think they should increase the coverage in areas they know are low as it can be quite a waste of money if it doesn't work properly. However, I do get onto the internet with it but I think the coverage and strength of signal could be better.

I strongly suggest you choose an alternative product. There are bugs with the O2 connection manager software which have not been resolved even in the latest release, so even though you can see the O2 network you will not be able to connect for love nor money. The supplied O2 manual is not very informative and is absolutely useless for troubleshooting. The manual refers you to a costly 0870 number to obtain tech support. I'm certainly not shelling out more money to fix an O2 problem. Not very customer focused! A simple Internet search through some of the technical forums reveals a whole host of issues and even O2 staff are struggling! This product is a waste of time and money and will shortly be returned to Amazon for a full refund.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good start, poor finish. 3 Oct. 2009
I bought this as a filler before my new flat got the internet installed, at first it served its purpose fine. Bit slow but the signal strength never seemed to get about medium so I cut it some slack.

However after the first week or so it started developing real problems connecting to the O2 UK network. The modem would be flashing away but it simply would not find the network. This caused many hours (and I mean HOURS) of frustrations involving reinstalling the software several times.

Also when it did finally connect the o2 homepage kept bugging me that there was new software available for it, so I downloaded it hoping to solve my issues, only to find it was the exact same version of the software that came with my E160 when I bought it. <sigh>

So all in all, not a bad little piece of kit.... when it connects.
