Firstly, let me assure 'reviewers' who can't be bothered or unable to write more than a sentence rubbishing this product that I don't work for Apple. I may be a fan, like millions out there, but I don't shy away from an honest review.
I bought this Mobee charger because my Magic Mouse consumes batteries too quickly. I don't use the rechargeable batteries it came with, as I have to recharge them at an inconvenient rate, preferring to use non-rechargeable Duracell batteries instead. So when I saw this product, it seemed the perfect solution. I've plugged it into the back of my Time Capsule and it sits unobtrusively alongside my iMac

This product consists basically of (a) a rechargeable battery pack which you insert into your Magic Mouse instead of its AA batteries, (b) a small white charging pad you put your mouse on when not in use, (c) a USB lead which you connect running from the white charging pad to a USB slot.

The first thing I notice on opening the box is that there are absolutely no written instructions. Although I figured out what to do easily, I had to watch a YouTube video when I encountered a problem; that being the next point of concern: some of these Mobee chargers have apparently been manufactured with their battery pack not being a precise fit to your Magic Mouse. Consequently, I couldn't get my Mouse to turn on despite charging the Mobee for four hours. It was then that I had to do a little research and found others having a similar problem. So, inspired by what others had done, I jiggled the Mobee battery pack around a little to make sure it had contact with my Magic Mouse. Hey, presto, it worked.

Others have commented on having to use a valuable USB slot on your computer to fit this kit.

Great looking product following the fine lines of the Apple Magic Mouse. The packaging alone is "apple ish" and is well thought out. Out of the box it all works flawlessly and is a great talking point for onlookers. The full charge takes about 2 hrs with the mouse switched on, but a charged mouse lasts a good 6 hrs when being heavily used. I tend to use the charger as a resting place for the mouse when not in use so it is picking up charge all the time. A good point which is not mentioned in the instructions is that the cable, which normally plugs into a USB port on the laptop/desktop, can also be connected to the mains via an Apple mains USB plug. All in all a great product - if not a tad pricey. Chris Hill

To clarify things, from a 'typical' Apple user's point of view... That's a good point, Mr M C from Manchester, and one that made me go; 'Oooh!' as I was about to click on the Add to Basket button and buy one of these for my Magic Mouse (that I too get fed up of changing batteries every 3 to 4 weeks (even high capacity Ni-MH))... What's the point in having a cool charging system that only works whilst the Mac is switched on - and therefore in use????

But within a second it clicked!

Just in case, for those reading Mr M C's review who may be put off purchasing this device who haven't clicked yet... In my experience of using Macs (since pre the award winning B&W G3), most of us don't actually 'turn off' our machines at the end of the night (or whatever), but actually put our beloved Apple's into 'Sleep' mode! In sleep mode the USB is still active! (At least it is on my MacPro, and has been on older towers I still possess.) In fact, the only people I know that use Macs and turn them off, are users that have migrated from Windows and still think that's what they must do!

Which means... One should be able to click on the Apple/Sleep; drop the Magic Mouse (gently) onto it's new charging base whilst the OS is closing down; and let the Mac go to sleep whilst charging!!!!

Hope this helps, darth. x

If you've got a Mac wireless mouse then get this, it is an absolute must and frankly I don't know why the Mac doesn't come with this in the first place.

I've had two of these now (two different Macs).

Great piece of kit, takes standard rechargeable batteries so when they're worn out dirt cheap to replace. The mouse charges in pretty much any position on the pad. I power mine of the Mac, if you prefer you can use a normal mains USB adapter to power this.

Great product, highly recommended.

It's a great idea for a product, however it has a few flaws.
1) The battery pack fits poorly inside the Apple Magic Mouse. As a result of this, the mouse frequently loses its connection to the battery pack and drops the connection. However, I was able to remedy this by using a small piece of paper to wedge it inside.

2)The battery pack is prone to swelling. Take care how frequently you charge it.

3)The charging plate will sometimes not detect the mouse is there. This can be resolved by unplugging the charging plate and replugging it.

4)If your battery pack swells, it drags against the table and makes the mouse uncomfortable to use.

However, these problems aside, it's a very useful product and definitely has saved me the hassle of buying batteries.

I look forward to a 2nd Edition of this product where these issues are remedied.
