I took the bike out and did a 25km cycle. I stopped a few times to adjust my seat height. An Allen key is required for this so don't forget one.
The biggest complaint I have is the brakes. They do not seem to have much stopping power. I will be changing the brake blocks to see if this improves. But I have been used to hydraulic disc brakes on my mtb so maybe I am expecting too much.
A slight 2nd complaint is that when your hands are on the drops I feel it quite awkward to grab the brake levers. I think I have my bars in the correct position as they are level and comfortable when cycling. I may need to take the bike to my local bike shop to be checked.
A silly small detail is the routing of the cables going to the back of the bike they look to be routed down the wrong side of the bike. This is a small detail but I wonder if the people assembling the bikes even ride a bike!
I don't want to seem too negative as I think it's a great bike for the price.
I would recommend this as a first road bike.
First of all, it really is good value (I bought it for £220 so very good) - has many of the features that I would expect to find on bikes of >£400 from my local shop. When it's tuned well, it rides really well and as a relatively unfit cyclist I'm generally able to cruise at 15-20mph without too much sweating. I don't regret buying this bike
However, some of the parts have already begun to wear - the freewheel is already showing signs of wear and the callipers corroded quite quickly. I probably could have done with cleaning it more often but it hardly was ever allowed to get really dirty. Most of the parts are still doing alright and the frame is solid so generally not bad but it needs more care than I'd expect really.
It has also recently survived being hit by a car quite well (car pulled out of t-junction into me - fairly limited damage to bike)

Left Side Pedal crank arm wore and broke within 3 weeks of delivery. Wrote the the sellers and was ignored, definitely would not recommend!Published 12 months ago by Amazon Customer
I got mine for £108 "second hand" which was a proper bargain! Excellent for the price. Yes, some of the parts will wear quicker than a £1000 bike, but what do you expect? Read morePublished 21 months ago by James Coates
