If you are looking for a book by a real woman with down-to-earth tips and ideas for getting in shape and staying that way FOR LIFE - this is the book for you. The author is a professional fitness blogger and her voice is so accessible. I felt like she was talking directly to me. The book gives really helpful information, but presents it in such a fun (sometimes quirky) way that you stay engaged and keep reading. The book covers healthy (intuitive) eating, ways to fit fitness ("exercise") into your everyday life, and the whole mind/body connection concept. Also, the fact that it is an e-book means that there are hyperlinks to great video clips made by the author. I loved this book. I would definitely recommend buying it and I couldn't believe that it only cost $3.99. Don't tell Amazon, but I would have paid more for it. :)

Weight loss is not easy.

We have all heard and seen so many diet trends, so many different workout plans, SO MANY OPTIONS!

Listen, if I want to learn about weight loss I might as well learn about it from someone who has been through it, and has KEPT consistent for just about forever.

I have been reading Mizfit's blog for a long time, when she writes it feels like she is talking to you and you only. She has the most amazing knowledge on all things fitness related. I always wondered what it would truly be like to get a brain dump from her, because she knows SO MUCH. (Take a look at the blog and see what I mean)

She must have heard my thoughts because now, it's here, in an EBOOK!

Let me just say I hate ebooks, I don't own a kindle, I still go to the library--all of it.

However, I read the first few pages of this ebook and I simply could not put it down. Here's why:

She takes a completely different approach to weight loss. Not only does she give you a Month by Month plan on how to incorporate new healthy habits permanently, she gives you videos to actual workouts you can do anywhere. She talks about running, strength training, cardio--how much, when to do it, and everything else you can imagine to help you on your fitness journey.

My personal favorite part of the book that I don't mind reading over and over is Mizfit's approach to food. She talks about food in a way I really haven't heard of before, and because she has been through it there is no reason to at least try what she is saying. There are no "rules" instead it's an holistic approach to food that made her weight loss effortless.

For the price you get an AMAZING amount of information--whether you are already on your way to your goal weight or you are just starting out, MizFit has something in her book for you.

Even though I couldn't access all the tons of links to even more information that she includes in her book (I have a Mac and use a Kindle for Mac app, and it just wouldn't work for me), what I DID read in the book was such good stuff that I was so glad I read it. Carla has a relaxed and engaging way of communicating; packed with usable information, but very readable.

When I really like a book, I tend to mark it up; and yes, I marked this up all over the place. Some examples that I bookmarked or highlighted:

-Interval training: she not only recommends it, but tells why it's beneficial in a concise way, and then how to easily go about it. And you don't need expensive equipment or memberships, either.

-Importance of Mind/Muscle connection: not some woo-woo theory, but a solid approach that she helped me finally see, and why it's important; and HOW to get it.

-Videos: I was happy I could connect to the youtube video she offers, showing at-home exercises for strength training; very helpful to actually SEE what an author is describing with words if you happen to be like me, a visual learner.

-Here is what I think must be my favorite quote from Carla's book: "Nothing has been more freeing and empowering and allowed me to blossom more than allowing my opinion to be the only one that matters." The context was how our society tends to value us based upon our appearance, and how we internalize that. I love her approach to getting free from that.

-One of my favorite whole chapters was "The Lies We Tell Ourselves". This one might surprise you. But I was delighted, since right before I read this book, I had been thinking along a similar line, how our internal thoughts were so powerful and we need to guard them carefully. Here's a couple of quotes from that chapter: "information shows we're happier when we CHOOSE to hold views about the future that are more positive than evidence may justify." "Research has shown those who 'deceive' themselves in a positive fashion can boost self-esteem/make themselves feel better." She gives examples from her personal life to help the reader understand; again, good stuff.

Bottomline, I highly recommend Carla's book. And if you can access all the tons of links and videos, you'll have a treasure trove at your fingertips!

I love this ebook!!!

I have followed Carla for awhile now on her blog MizFit, so I was ecstatic to learn she wrote an ebook about her successful weight loss. Carla lost 35 pounds 19 years ago and has maintained this loss even after pregnancy!!! In this ebook, Carla tells us her story and provides us with all her "secrets" to her success in the weight loss department!

This is not your basic "how to" lose weight guide, but rather a compilation of motivational tips on what has worked for Carla over the last 19 years. What I really love about this ebook is that each chapter includes links to Carla's work and references on the internet!!!!

For $3.99 this is a bargain!! Whether you are new to leading a healthy lifestyle or have been working on your health for years, this is a must read!! If you don't already know Carla, you will most certainly be a fan by the end of the first few sections!!!

I have read a multitude of fitness books, but very few frequent my "library", this will be one I keep and refer back to for years to come!!!
