The fascination with crime and criminals gives this collection a value and interest particularly as this selection is of cases less often examined. Rixby, Christie -did he kill Mrs Evans- , Haigh have all been done, these are different. The advance in forensic science is apparent.
I'm an avid reader of true crime books and i thoroughly enjoyed this one. well written, and completely engaging, each chapter described cases which were less well known, which is a bonus for me as I have read so many books which are just rehashed studies of more famous killers. I also liked how the author provided a 'case formulation' at the end of each chapter discussing why the killer committed their crime. I couldn't put it down. would absolutely recommend.
I'm reading this now and thoroughly enjoying it. I've not read any of the author's work before, but his writing style is precise, easy to read and engaging. The cases appear to have been researched with care and I'm delighted, as a massive true crime fan, to find so many I'd not heard of before. I really hope there is a follow up.
