This is a beautiful book with acetate interspersed for lovely effect. Interesting fish like the lion fish, the leaf fish and the stone fish are each cleverly camouflaged behind the clear pages. Mr Seahorse dawdles along with his pouch full of seahorse eggs and meets many other underwater Dads looking after their own broods: for example, the Tilapia guards his eggs in his mouth, the Pipe fish has the eggs along his tummy, and Mr Kurtus has eggs stuck on the top of his head which my children think is hysterically funny. A great book to show that mummy doesn't have to be the nurturing parent.

Even though I have a place in my heart for the Hungary Caterpillar having loved it as a child, this is even better. I bought it for my son when he was about 1 1/2 and he continues to love it aged 4. The pictures are brilliant and the see thhrough pages are a great idea. The story is also lovely in that it tells you all about the male fish that look after babies- very PC!!

Ok so this was actually a Father's day present for my seahorse fanatical father, when I saw this I couldn't help myself, he had to have it. Upon reciept i read it immediately and must say I was very impressed, even my very serious father enjoyed it and my primary school teacher of a sister absolutely loved it. I highly recommend this book, not only for kids but also for adults who like some fun.

Eric Carle is a genius. This may be his best book. I strongly recommend this book to parents of pre-school children. It is illustrated beautifully, with the original and engaging touches we expect from this author. And it has a captivating story that kids will love to hear, over and over again.

Ive used this book as a starting point for D.T as the combination of colour and texture is a must. As a story this book offers lots of interesting information about how some fishes lay their eggs and it is the father who looks after them.

A lovely story with lovely illustrations. Eric Carle is wonderful. The see through pages that hide the fish are a nice touch and a story singing dad's praises makes a change!
