When the chips are down, faith matters and becomes real. You are forced to depend on God in a real way. This is a story of two strong Christian families tested in the very worst way, yet they set an example for us all - by not even considering giving up on God and pouring out their feelings to Him in their times of deepest distress. One incident really struck me - as a 'too busy to pray, sorry!' sort of gal I was challenged when the daughter of the family preparing for the funeral announced on the day of the funeral that they should spend 2 hours in prayer before starting the day. The mother protested that there were too many things to do. But the daughter got her way and they did indeed spend that time praying together and reading from the Bible, and this became a feature of their days henceforth. The tributes to the people who died in the accident were also challenging, too, for it is clear that all of them lived their lives with a 100% commitment to God. How many of us can say that? How many of us have a deep passion for God and a longing to share His love with others? This book has made me think about who I really want to be - a Christian when it suits me, or one who is wholly and utterly committed? I need to decide.
