What seems like a nightmare he can't wake from, Ben's fiance Grace has gone missing, without a trace, on her way to Chicago for a business trip. He can’t let go and believe she's gone, he knows in his heart that Grace would not leave him because of a silly fight they had before she walked out the door. Their love was too strong. He watched her leave, but didn't say goodbye because he was angry and stubborn...an act he would come to deeply regret.
This is a beautiful story of love, loss and second chances. The heartache you feel with Ben is undeniable and it stays with you the entire story. He needs to find her and intends on looking as long as it takes.
The magnitude of this devotion to Grace knows no bounds and you can truly feel his love for her in this story…really, really feel it. Ben is not pretentious, he’s not an alpha male looking to control all aspects of their lives. Although a successful architect, he does not care about money or prestige. He is a man in love looking to reclaim his life with the one woman that has been his everything since the day he laid eyes on her (swoon)!
The connection between Ben and Grace is one of a kind and Ben knows this, it’s impossible for him to let go. This story is beautiful, heart wrenching and pulls you in right from the start. He is a man searching for his one true love and nothing is more romantic than that.
This is a must read by S L Scott. Add this to your TBR, you won’t regret joining Ben on his journey to find the love of his life!
I really love the story. The premise was engrossing and so very well thought out that it is possibly one of the most sophisticated plots I've come across in a while. Although it's not exactly a dark romance, there're unquestionably some aspects that murmur to it - however, there isn't any open sinister occurrence or practice in it. I don't want to give the plot away because the story should be fully enjoyed and discovered by the reader.
In all honesty, the characters are very well mapped out but they lack familiarity - this is mainly due to the narrative of the book. Had the story been told from a first person narrative and perspective with a dual POV it would've easily been a flawless book. The writing skill is there though. I just found the storytelling somewhat distanced from the plot. I really wanted to feel Grace's and Ben's emotions. I wanted to be so caught up in their feelings that I would live the story for myself, but instead it felt like reading a news story in the papers. It's such a pity because the plot itself had me turning those pages so fast and yet not as fast as I'd want to.
Again I found that the narrative made the sexual interactions between Grace and Ben really impersonal and made it all feel too calculated and put on. There wasn't that passionate and burned-up flow that I love and in general lacked feeling and emotion - even if the L word was being thrown in for good measure left, right and centre. I'm not going to lie, the plot of Saving Grace got me so excited that I couldn't put the book down, but the narrative left me sorely disappointed. It really pains me to say this. However, there is one thing that needs to be conveyed - for the plot alone I would recommend this book till the cows come home. It's just so clever and well plotted that in itself it makes the book a must read.
Ben lost the love of his life, soul mate is probably a better term, without knowing why. Putting his life on hold he spends 3 years looking for answers, just working and continuing to look for Grace. It was heart breaking to see what his life had become.
It's difficult to review without giving spoilers away but this book has betrayal, lies and deceit but throughout love shines through.
It is an easy read with a good storyline and plenty of surprises. Both amnesia and second chance love have been done many times but this just has a freshness I haven't seen before.
A great read.
Ben doesn’t give up, though, and puts his own life on hold to continue searching for Grace. Some might classify this as obsessive, but I prefer the term ‘dedicated’. He refuses to abandon hope and face life without her.
Eventually a miracle happens, and he finds her again. Problem is, she has no idea who he is, or who she is, for that matter. She is also involved with someone else. Ben isn’t easily deterred, though, and is determined to at least help Grace remember her life. What follows is an emotional rollercoaster of rediscovery while uncovering the betrayals that contributed to Grace’s disappearance.
Grace is understandably very confused, which is also reflected in the descriptions of the chapters’ point of view – a clever tool used by the author. I enjoyed seeing Grace find herself again and becoming more comfortable. Her deeply rooted connection to Ben is definitely a factor in this.
Ben is positively swoon-worthy in his dedication to Grace. You cannot help but empathize with him, and even falling in love a little bit…
