Review

'We'd suggest dumping Stephenie Meyer's vapid Twilight books and replacing them with these' SFX Magazine

About the Author

Rachel Caine is the author of more than twenty novels, including the "Weather Warden" series. She was born at White Sands Missile Range, which people who know her say explains a lot. She has been an accountant, a professional musician, and an insurance investigator, and still carries on a secret identity in the corporate world. She and her husband, fantasy artist R. Cat Conrad, live in Texas with their iguanas, Popeye and Darwin; a "mali uromastyx" named (appropriately) O Malley; and a leopard tortoise named Shelley (for the poet, of course)." --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

*SPOILERS ALERT - i dont tell you the end or anything specific but i dont want people complaining, there is light mention of the charcters*

After reading the first four novels in this series I was practially vibrating with excitement about reading this next one.
Some advice before I start this review - if you havent read the first four novels in this series (which are really good reads) you won't understand a damn thing that happens in book 5 so rewind and go take a look at 'Glass Houses'.

There where ups and downs to the books in my oppinion, In the beginning we begin where we left off with Shane going off to the blood mobile, Eve going to 'Common Grounds', Michael heading off to the University and finally Claire tagging in with Amelie to save our lovley Myrinn.
You're thrown straight into action but i personally felt like all of the action was pretty anti-climatic. It seemed like they where going to do something amazing... but it didnt quiet happen and it was all solved quickly. We where also introduced to a new Charcter called 'Hannah' who is important for a couple of chapters but then is completley discarded and you dont know what the hell happened to her. The same with Granma Day - you think she's going to add something to the plot but.. she ends up arriving, making sandwiches... and disapearing. Oh, and the addition to a vampire family who flits into the story throughout but never really does anything.

I felt overall that this book was all a little to prolonged... it dragged a little. To be honest, it seems as though they just wanted us to buy another book so watered the plot out a tad. Everything that happens in the what, 300 page book?

The town of Morganville has seen better days since the return of Bishop, a master vampire who wants control of the town. His daughter, Amelie, isn't going to relinquish her power easily.

Now everyone's choosing sides and waiting for the battle to begin. Those who have chosen now have their battle assignments. Claire must find Myrnin, Shane must guard the blood bank, Michael protects the college students, and Eve needs to head back to the coffee shop and to Oliver.

In a fight this big, there's bound to be infighting and backstabbing. Soon the humans in town aren't sitting on the sidelines anymore. Those who were once protected can no longer count on the vampire alliance to protect them.

Claire and her friends are doing everything they can to save the town, but they seem to be the key to the fight. Are they about to be double-crossed themselves?

LORD OF MISRULE is the 5th book in the very popular THE MORGANVILLE VAMPIRES series. While vampire books are flooding the market, this series stands out because of its differences. The vampires in the series are not friendly, they are out for your blood and only something benefiting them will stop them from drinking.

Suspense and horror alongside of friendship and romance make this series perfect and unforgettable.

Morganville is in chaos, Amelie and Bishop are gathering their forces to fight one another, some humans are seizing this opportunity for freedom from vampires, and all this stress is increasing the speed of the vampire disease. As always Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael are stuck in the middle, but will Morganville ever be the same. I really like how captivating Claire and Shane's relationship is in this book and the entire series. This book has a tense and fascinating plot which is really interesting to read. I would recommend this series to everyone who likes paranormal YA.

Things are never going to be the same for anyone in the town of Morganville as since the Bishop has decided to come along and ruin all the peace and divide up the town. However that isn't Claire and her friends only problem as violent black clouds have started hovering over the small town, they know that a storm is coming but how bad it will be they have no clue.

However this isn't Claire's only problem as whilst helping Amelie finding out what Bishop plans to do to the town, she has to look after Myrnin and help him on his projects, then she has to avoid Monica who Claire managed to get on the wrong side of, but whilst doing all of that she must attend to her classes at the university. So you can tell it's not exactly the easiest thing for her, but somehow she manages to cope.

There is so much drama and craziness that happens in this book, however friendships and loyalties are tested. Will Claire and her friends be able to figure it all out before it gets worse or will they betray each other in the process.

I do feel sorry for Claire as all she wanted to do in the first place was just attend university so that later on she could go on ahead to MIT, but ever since she turned up in Morganville her life hasn't exactly been the greatest. I know that she is a smart girl but at times I feel like it would be better if she had someone who was on her level of thinking and could actually help her when she needs it. I'll be honest I can't stand Shane, I know that most of you guys out there love Shane as character but for me he has never really done anything, I honestly wished that she could have been put with someone else instead of constantly making sure that he's alright and not about to get into any trouble.
