"Greater love has no woman than to watch Doctor Who from the beginning for her husband" - words that come to mind when reading this book! A very funny and refreshing take on a sci-fi classic from a 'non-we' (as Doctor Who fans call those who are not fans). As 'non-we' Sue Perryman, very ably assisted by her 'we' husband Neil, brings a unique perspective on the classic era of Doctor Who, and is never shy to BBQ the 'sacred cows' of fandom! Eagerly anticipating future volumes.

As a Doctor Who fan for 40+ years I'm always interested to find a new way to look at this evolving series. However the real strength of this book, and other related writings by Neil Perryman, is the insight into the series of titular Wife, Sue, and the great love and warm humour their adventure in time and space demonstrates to the reader. All their joys and not infrequent frustrations will be familiar to anyone who has a hobby/passion they have tried to explain to, or involve another person in - as is the case here as Mr Perryman tries to share his love for Doctor Who with Mrs Perryman with often unexpected results. This is not an episode guide in the real sense, but those are available elsewhere if that is what you seek, rather this is an alternative view of the series and as such will best suit a reader who has some familiarity with the many episodes discussed, though it is perfectly possible to enjoy both the entertaining writing, and the wonderful relationship depicted, with little knowledge of the show at all.

I love the way the author (Neil Perryman) writes - he is just so good at conveying the humor in the moment. And his wife (Sue Perryman) provides much of the material for him to write about. Not that he puts her down - in fact Sue regulars does it to Neil. But its all done in good humor. A very entertaining book about watching one of life's great TV shows (Dr Who) in the company of loves ones - who may or may not appreciate the show.

Very much looking forward to the next in the series - due August 2015 i believe.

Following on the heels of Neil and Sue's life story and summary of their experience in the book, Adventures with the Wife in Space, the two wayward adventurers traverse William Hartnell' First Doctor era.

The book is so much fun and completely enjoyable. It is a blast experiencing the stories that fans are already familiar with, delivered through Sue's perspective on the series. The wit and humor by which it is presented is a real treat.
