Perfect for this summer to read at the beach, or anywhere for that matter. A fantastic fun read!--Wendy Hines"Wendy's Minding Spot" (06/03/2009)

Lots of situational humor, tragedy, and foresight that you wish the characters could see. Mansell does a wonderful job of keeping me reading the book.--Zarabeth"Love Romance Passion" (06/23/2009)

All the characters are fleshed out completely and the humour just dances off the pages. I can't wait to read more books by Jill Mansell whose style is reminiscent of Marion Keyes and Sophie Kinsella but she also has a voice that is all her own... Bravo Jill Mansell.--Tamara Baff"Books by TJ Baff" (06/03/2009)

I loved how all of the characters had their own small side story and I liked the ending for all of them! This would be a perfect summer beach read!--Andrea Mason"So Many Books, So Little Time" (06/08/2009)

Ms. Mansell's books are easy reading books, that pull you in to the lives of the characters and don't let go until you finish the story... Jill Mansell's books will turn you in to a chick -lit reader!!--Allison King"Allison's Attic of Books" (09/17/2009)

[H]er cast of characters are so lovable that you want them to be your friends!--Kristi Herbrand"Books and Needlepoint" (06/11/2009)

highly recommend it to any fans of chick lit, especially those who love Brit chick lit. I can't wait to read more of Jill Mansell's work!--Swapna Krishna"S. Krishna's Books" (06/05/2009)

With a full cast of entertaining characters, interesting secondary storylines, a few tears and more than a few smiles and laugh out loud moments, this is definitely a book that I would recommend to anyone who likes chick lit, or who just wants a fun beach read.--Margaret Bates"Reading Adventures" (06/26/2009)

"Miranda's Big Mistake" not only oozes modern romance, but also sarcasm and wit--Serena Cox-Augusto"Savvy Verse & Wit" (06/05/2009)

There's no doubt that Jill Mansell's books can be categorized as chick lit, but in my opinion, they're among the best written books in the genre... I absolutely loved Miranda's Big Mistake.--Anna Horner"Diary of an Eccentric" (06/05/2009)

I have to give this 4 stars because when I compare this to the other works of Mansell's, it's not up there with "Perfect Timing", "Head Over Heels", "Sheer Mischief" and "Good at Games" (my favorite so far). But that's not to say it's still not a very, very good book. Mansell writes extremely witty dialog, and even thought her plot devices can be very far-fetched, she can pull them off. I must admit that I never felt as if I "knew" Miranda as I have heroines from her other books. Despite the description of her multicolored hair, I never got a good mental picture of her or her personality. Another reviewer has scoffed at Miranda's ability to fall in love so often - in Mansell's other books, she handles this dilemma in a much more credible manner. I think we could have benefited from a few more pages here - a bit more time to set up the credibility of a relationship between Miranda and Miles, a bit more time to build up the tension between Dan and Miranda. As usual, Mansell does a fine job with the secondary plot lines - her batty friend at the salon and Miles' friend are very cute, as are the hairdresser and the pregnant friend. My advice - if you haven't read a Mansell novel yet, ready one of the ones mentioned above. If you have, this is a fine way to spend your free time, not trash that you'll regret.

This book follows Miranda and her up-and-down lovelife. just like buses, theres no men around then three come at once! watch Miranda find out her new love, Greg, pregnant wife is her new housemate. how will British racing champion, Miles Harper, fit into her life with his celebrity model/actress girlfriend? and what will Miranda do about Danny Delancy the tramp/journalist who likes to wind Miranda up?

funny funny funny, definately a book that will keep you turning the pages and loving the characters.

This really is a brilliant book! From start to finish it has you wanting to read on and it really does have you wondering what's going to happen next the whole way through! I'm a hopeless romantic, and this book is exactly the kind that I love! The end is brilliant, exactly how it should turn out, and I really don't understand how people could call this book disappointing! This book gets you really involved in the characters and their lives, and at one point I actually had tears streaming down my cheeks because it was so sad! This is the second Jill Mansell book I've read, the first being Kiss (which is also really good) and I'm definately going to read more. She's a brilliant author and I love her books! This is definately a book not to be missed out on!

I was so excited to find another book by Jill I had to buy it immediately. This one, like all the others, is so easy to get in to right from the very first page, you lose yourself in it - you're right there with the characters, living their lives with them as a fly on the wall.
Miranda is a real live-wire, you can't help but cringe at some of the scrapes she get's herself into - there are funny moments, sad moments, nostalgic moments, but the whole book is one huge self-indulgent moment! I just couldn't put it down.
My only complaint about all Jill's books is finishing them! You want them to last forever! Once you've read one, you've got to read them all!
Note to Jill Mansell: PLEASE hurry up and write another one soon!

This started off well enough, though I did find Miranda faintly irritating from the start - she's just too ditsy and so terribly nice that I instantly took against her, as it were. However, that's not a huge problem, as her friends and colleagues provide a far greater level of interest and have a decent-ish amount of page space - so if you get fed up with Miranda, then you soon have Chloe (who is Greg's newly pregnant and abandoned wife) and Bev (the man-mad colleague) to look forward to and concentrate on.

Greg, of course, is the man we all love to hate - he blames Chloe for getting pregnant and breaking her word to him about not wanting babies and instantly leaves her. Because he's just a very nasty man, to be honest. He's also rather unbelievable as I simply didn't credit that Greg could be such a downright despicable cad and yet get two nice women (Chloe and later Miranda) to fall for him. He's really more caricature than character - and this is also the case with Chloe's dreadful boss and his wife. Both of these people are frankly so horrible that I just kept laughing at them, and I'm not convinced that was the reaction Mansell was intending. Oh well.

Never mind, as there are a couple of menfolk in the mix who are adorable in every way - Fenn, the definitely straight hairdresser, and Miles, the lovely and witty famous racing driver, are a delight and should have had far more page space here than they actually do. It's a bit of a lost opportunity for the men, to be honest. Also, something dreadful happens to Miles about three-quarters of the way through which I think was totally unnecessary and rather stupid - and this leaves the way free for journalist Danny to take the place of the dreadful Greg as Miranda's potential partner. Are you keeping up at the back?
