I can honestly say that this is the worst book I've ever read regarding this subject. My annoyance with the book was initially provoked when I read the sentence (in bold, centered in the middle of the page) "If it takes too long to reach orgasm, your lover may be a little bit disgusted." What sort of a message is that to send out? A negative one to say the very least, not to mention the pressure it places on the woman if she decides to believe that statement. I found D. Claire Hutchins (no, she's not a doctor, but tries to give the impression that she is one) to have strong feminist attitudes, and harped on about how women should take control, how women have always been hard done by as regards sex and how women were frowned upon for enjoying sex, how female masturbation used to be a taboo, etc, etc, etc... Although she is not incorrect in saying all these things, it's the 21st Century, these things are no longer issues for women. The majority of the book was devoted to these topics, and she seemed to take great delight in slagging off Freud. I didn't buy this book to read about him or how wrong he was. I can't believe she managed to write a whole book about an obvious 'formula' that could be summed up in one sentence: woman-on-top position + masturbation + fantasies = orgasm during intercourse. To me, the book seemed like a long lecture on being more assertive in bed, etc. Miss Hutchins makes the assumption that the reader is a shy, introverted female who still believes that sex is a sin unless it is used to procreate. Please, don't waste your money.

Premise is 1) Get on top 2) Fantasize 3) Play with yourself. Sorry, but this doesn't work for everyone. To add insult to injury, the book is badly written, repetitive, and full of self-congratulatory falsehoods. Author also doesn't acknowledge that there IS such a thing as premature ejaculation. Not everyone GETS five minutes!

Even though the "synopsis" for this book doesn't give much of a clue what it is about, I took a chance and purchased it based on the title. As it turns out, this book is written primarily for women (and their lovers) who have difficulty reaching orgasm during sex, who rely on oral sex or vibrators to have an orgasm, and who therefore do not enjoy the act of "intercourse." This book teaches a quick and simple answer for a woman who wants to have an orasm during intercourse. I appreciated the information. My boyfriend and I practiced using this technique and are pleased with the results. I've had orgasms before, but not during sex. Now I can enjoy an orgasm during intercourse.

As a licensed sex therapist, I had read this book a couple of months ago, but wasn't too impressed. It wasn't "scholarly" enough to impress me. Then one of my female patients told me how it had helped her relationship, and I took another look. What I missed before was the tone of the book, which is ideally suited for getting simple ideas across in a non-clinical way. It communicates to women like a friendly chat between friends. The approach is non-judgmental and supportive. The author more or less says, "if nothing's worked for your before, don't give up. Try this out." The formula in the book won't work for everyone, and not every couple will want to use it. But it's there if they choose. I believe Ms. Hutchins sincerely wants to help women, and has found a simple way to do it.

This book deals with a specific problem that many women face-the inability to reach orgasm through sexual intercourse in any position. It is written for women who feel they must have oral sex or use a vibrator prior to the sex act, and who are not happy about it for one reason or another.
Some readers are not going to be happy because they are expecting a definitive sex manual that covers many topics. But the author, Claire Hutchins, states clearly that this book is not about new and elaborate sexual techniques. It is not about pleasing your mate- it's about learning to enjoy yourself as much than the man while you are having inercourse. Hutchins wants women to take control of their sexual response and stop depending on their partners' skills at lovemaking. No more lousy lover-no orgasm excuses. The tone of the book is slightly feminist which will upset some men, but a full reading reveals that Hutchins is somewhat indulgent with men, and gives them "permission" to think about themselves. She clearly has sympathy for men who have been burdened with the responsibility of women's orgasm.
Hutchins wants women and men to enjoy sex. I think she accomplishes that and more.

You're absolutely right, this book was garbage... ill-informed although peppered with so-so information, there were no gems..or feel-good factors about this book, to boost confidences not only in the authors 'knowledge' or 'authenticity' but in yourself.
The only people that would come away feeling better would be the naive/inexperienced (severly experienced!)
It assumed the lady to be very conservative, that most reading the book would never have tried masturbation, or sitting on top their mate...which i also feel wasn't heavily advertised in the book's product information.

ONLY BUY THIS BOOK IF: you have had a FEW orgasms with your partner 'by accident' and have no idea what you did or how to replicate the experience
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK IF: you think of yourself as semi-experienced in the bed room... experience being: you know how to make yourself orgasm alone (perhaps you don't masturbate but you at least know how) OR being on top is not a strange/unheard-of thing in your relationship... haa not exactly what i call 'experienced'!
also donot buy if you have lost any sexual sensation due to parenthood stresses or related physical problems.

This book is extremely old fashioned, not in its genuine factual information but in the opinion/or sexual liberation the author assumes you to have.
It also heavily discourages intercourse as any way of a female reaching orgasm.. i actually felt like there was now no point in me having sex...which is not 'me' atall!! ;pp luckily i realised the author is not qualified or justified to chat the crap that she does and make people with real problems feel even worse about their situation.
I want a motivational read, thanks!
