My son spent ages building all the cubes (we now have the problem of finding a home for his model minecraft world) and any time away from a screen is time well spent in our house. I am aware of the irony. Anyway it is better than paper or normal card as it has an eggshell type finish and is very durable. My son aged 13 took to the folding immediately and discarded the instructions instinctively. The pack is massive and will keep any minecraft fan busy for hours.
We first got a smaller set as a birthday present for a Minecraft fan and my 7-year old son (who also likes playing Minecraft) kept asking for one for himself. This deluxe pack seemed good value for money, so I ordered it. My son was thrilled with it but now wants more!
I am not so excited about it, though – firstly, it is quite expensive for what it is (but understandably so, due to licensing fees) but also because of the size of the blocks - they are larger than I expected and take a lot of space to store. I had been hoping that the storage chest could be used to store the entire play set but quickly realised how naive I was - it will only fit 8 blocks, plus a couple of the figures.
The card quality is excellent, although assembling Steve and the Creeper took its toll on the joining bits and we had to stick them with tape. The blocks are easy enough for a 6-7 year old child to build but the rest took some adult input. The trees are not very strong as the trunks go into the crowns without much support from falling out. The figures are cute and realistic (well, as realistic as Minecraft can be!!) and the whole set, once built, offers hours of opportunities for creative play. My son and his friend really enjoyed pretending to play the Minecraft game in real life, I think the novelty is in being able to touch and feel the world that is entirely virtual on the game version.
However, after the novelty wore off, they retreated to their tablets to play the original. You need many more types of blocks to make the papercraft version as exciting as the game. Also, you can not build a complete building as there is no support for a roof or any cover for that matter.Read more ›
She says.....I love it because it's so cool to build, I didn't really like making Minecraft Steve, pig and creeper because they were tricky to build but now they're built I really like them, it was FULL of things to build, the blocks were easy, the trees were a bit tricky.
I say, this is super cool but, once it's all been built, I'm wondering where are we going to put all these trees, blocks, I need to build an extention to keep all this stuff in, overall it really was full of things to build and very exciting for Minecraft fans.
I was concern about the price until we opened it on Christmas day, we girl of 8boy of 10& me had a lovely few hours building it all, fiddly at first but the kids soon got the hang of it.
It has been built and played with for a week now and still surviving
This set was very good quality when I opened it and you might think that everything in this set is made out of paper but it is actually made out of card! Also the blocks are huge, we ended up having to get a plastic box and 2 bags! As well as all those things these toys are great for Minecraft fans and people who love building on Minecraft would like it even more!

My 11 year old son says it's great. However, the models are enormous when they're made up so you will need somewhere to store it all. Read morePublished 3 months ago by rae20
