Alarm exactly as expected - colour, size etc. Tested it when it arrived and it emits a deafening alarm - enough to scare anyone off. Also has a very handy torch incorporated into it. Bought for my daughter at Uni in London - sincerely hope she never has cause to activate it but it has made me feel better knowing she has it with her.
This item is just as described. Its ashame you have to pull the cord rather than having to press a button as this is just awkward in an emergency but apart from that it looks good and is VERY LOUD! I have a much smaller pocket torch that produces far more light than this but the main purpose is the alarm for which its very good.
Small alarms that fits in the palm of your hand. It accidentally went off in my handbag as the pullcord got caught on my keys. Easy to stop though by replacing the peg. At least I know it works! Gives me peace of mind when walking through town at night.
When I opened it it felt just the right size. I turned the torch on and it is so bright you could just shine that into the attackers eyes. We pulled the rip cord and the NOISE is unbearably loud. You can literally feel it go into your ears. It will scare and deafen anyone who tries to attack. Amazing. I feel so safe with it.
Because of the location of the key ring, and the location of the corded pin (used to activate the alarm) which is at 90 degrees to the chain; it can only be operated with two hands. In other words, you would need to hold the alarm in one hand and pull the pin with the other. One could have expected that you can operate it with one hand, a lady (with her customary bag) may not have the time to use both hands in a time of crisis. Pulling at the corded pin whilst it is clipped to anything via the key chain does not result in the pin being removed no matter how hard we pull.
I brought this alarm for not just my safety but the safety of my dogs either from dog knappers whilst we are out walking or from dog attacks. The noise from this alarm is so loud that when activated anybody around will stop and look. I have seen it in action when a large dog attacked my friends yokshire terrier. The large dog was so stunned by the noise that he dropped the little dog meaning his owner could save it from serious injury. Plus if anybody was steeling your dog anybody hearing this alarm will hopefully be able to help you stop your dog being stolen. The alarm cannot be activated in error as you have to pull a cord. Small and lightweight to carry in your pocket or clip on your dogs lead.
These little alarms are perfect for travellers, you can attach them to items that can be opened or removed to give immediate warning. The important part is the noise. We were approached by some young muggers in France, I pulled the cord, people came out of the shops to see what was happening and the muggers fled. We later saw them lined up alongside a police car. If you fix it in your bag with Velcro and attach the cord to the flap or zip, if a pickpocket then tries to gain access, perhaps whilst you are in a crowded place, all those around you are also warned.
