MDC's music is without doubt some of the best of the hardcore punk that came out of America, this CD combines their amazing debut album Millions of Dead Cops, with More Dead Cops, which is a collection of earlier EP's by the band.

High paced with songs on the attitudes of America, war, homosexualism and the american attitudes towards it, communism, liberty, many of their views are anarchistic and this is the main reason for my discovery of the group, being a huge fan of anarcho punk myself.

This is an absolute essential for anyone who likes anarcho/hardcore or hell any type of punk. A true classic.

MDC were one of the best of the early 80s US Hardcore bands. Along with Black Flag and The Dead Kennedys they did this extremely limiting music justice and provided a valuable influence for the grunge bands such as Nirvana. In fact, I got into MDC through Nirvana. When Kurt Cobain was arrested as a teenager for graffiting trucks, one of the things in his possession at the time was a tape of MDC.
This album is really punk rock. This is not for Green Day fans and is more representitive of the Hardcore scene than any other record to my knowledge. MDC were militant in a way that many other punk bands never were and still arent. The drums are fast, the guitars are loud and the lyrics are loaded with vitriol... all of the things that Hardcore punk rock should be.
Sure, there isnt much variety on display, but then again the original album was only about 20 minutes long. The second half is a compilation of early singles and eps that arent quite as strong as the first half but would still burn most of todays punk rock out of the arena.
Even though most of the tracks are similar for me the greatest song here is obvious. The fast version of "John Wayne Was A Nazi" must be in the top 5 classic hardcore chart and it sums up most of the album. MDC may not have had The Dead Kennedys sense of humour but they did have Crass' hardcore militant anarchist leanings... and thats enough for me.

I used to live the stright edged lifestyle and I am a big fan of hardcore punk bands like minor threat, bad brains, dead kennedys and the beastie boys(!). So when this CD was reccomended to me by friends, I ordered it from amazon, I was blown away. The message and delivery of this album is amazing, and rarely slows down. Word of warning however, further research into the history of the band will change your opinion of bad brains frontman HR, as MDCs singer Dave is homosexual. If that annoys or offends you, then dont buy this CD, get some limp bizkit instead.
