Elton John s The Million Dollar Piano is a residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The show has been running since September 2011 with the most recent leg being 16 shows between March 29 and April 26 2014. The concerts are the culmination of Elton John s decades long partnership with Yamaha pianos. This film features classic Elton John tracks from across his extraordinary career performed either with his band, with percussionist Ray Cooper or solo. The multimedia staging is extraordinary with vast screens behind the stage illustrating the songs and the piano itself acting as a screen for graphics and animations. Elton John is the ultimate live showman and this is the definitive Elton John concert experience.

Elton John’s Million Dollar Piano arrives on blu-ray with MPEG-4 AVC 1080i 1.78:1 encode. The picture is generally incredibly sharp and clear looking, with deep, solid blacks and convincing contrast. Colours are bold and very vividly saturated. The video presentation on the giant video screen in the background is truly outstanding, almost appearing 3-dimensional. (4.5.5)
Elton John’s Million Dollar Piano arrives on blu-ray with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio or LPCM 2.0. The audio is presented with excellently clear and faithful accountings of the music. The 5.1 mix does have noticeably more ambience, with a more spacious rendering of the music. The sound from Yamaha’s million dollar piano is truly spectacular and clean. One can hear every single note from the piano, despite of all the other instrumental tracks in the background. Elton is truly magical on the piano, and does not miss a single note. The band is also outstanding, especially Davey Johnstone playing his Captain Fantastic guitar and Nigel Olssen on drums. Although Elton’s voice now is not as refined as when he was younger, his presentation and showmanship are both top-notched. (4.5/5)
This concert was filmed on location at the Colosseum, Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. Next to Elton John, the centerpiece must be Yamaha’s million dollar piano, with LED video screens on each side of the piano. As noted above, the sound from the piano is truly magical, crisp and clean. The song selection was a mixture of his greatest hits plus album tracks:
01 The Bitch Is Back
02 Bennie And The Jets
03 Rocket Man
05 Tiny Dancer
06 Your Song
07 Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters
08 Better Off Dead
09 Indian Sunset
10 Blue Eyes
11 Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
12 I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues
13 Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
14 Philadelphia Freedom
15 I’m Still Standing
16 Crocodile Rock
17 Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)
18 Circle Of Life
19 Song For Guy (credits)
In the bonus materials, songs from Live in Kiev were featured:
01 Candle In The Wind
03 Sad Songs (Say So Much)
04 Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
From the concert, I get to learn the names of all his pianos over all the world: from South America (1) Aretha (Franklin) (2) Kay (Cavendish), and (3) Diana (Krall), (4) Nina (Simone), (5) Winifred (Atwell), (6) Nikita (red piano) and the million dollar piano Blossom (Dearie).
There are two young celloists from Crotia: (Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser). And Elton jokingly said that these young lads lowered the average age of the band by 35 years! Ha Ha.

What this release loses a star for is really just for the set list which is pretty much as what you get on other releases, namely the hits, so its much of a muchness and nothing really new. There is a great solo with Ray Cooper of Indian Sunset, and that is what the die hards want I feel, some classic back catalogue album tracks that dont get aired much.
It would be great to hear tracks from Captain Fantastic, Elton John, Château, Piano Player, Westies et al.
So overall a great show, just nothing different.Bonus wise you get a handful of live tracks from a Kiev show.
Worth it, just don't expect anything substantially different.
Amazon - your service was five star all the way.
Elton, I have been collecting your material since 1972. Just how many times can you reissue the same songs? This CD celebrating the Yamaha piano, really showed nothing of its contribution to the show other than a couple of short elements (GBYBR and Daniel) when Elt was giving the, well,'recognition' to Yamaha.
Great to see Ray, Dee Nigel and Bob etc. although despite Indian Sunset (which could have been so much better in its pictorial presentation) the disc did not have the whole set.
Much of the programme did not show the whole stage to let us see how the piano, band and screens linked (much less than the Red Piano package). I am really disappointed in the 'extras'. Not even in 5.1. I am so disappointed.
I don't want to give a one star to the main stay of my musical life.......
Hey Elton - make us true fans REALLY happy and release the 5.1 mixes of Caribou and Blue Moves - and please no more of the same live session we have had since 'Here and There'. By the way - if you want a live show what about a revisit to 17.11.70 at the Troubadour without augmentation?
To buyers - if you have a live Elton concert , save your money - if not go for the Red Piano
It is a great concert with a good choice of songs to show the talent of Elton John.
Like him or not , you have to admit he makes some good music.
He still captures the crowd and keeps the music going from begining to end. I was not disapointed.
