The pictures are lovely and i love watching the colours make the picture come to life.
When i have finished this book, i will definately buy another one of Millie Marotta's.
The quality of paper was wonderful for such a cheap book - it was perfectly white and held both coloured pencils and fineliners well. I would not recommend anyone uses heavier pens such as sharpies, however, as I imagine the colours would bleed through the pages. The book itself is almost perfectly square and it is very easy to hold the book open at a double page so you can work all the way across the paper.
A couple of the pictures have some text that reads like it might be found in a younger person's colouring book: "Slow and steady wins the race. Take your time decorating the tortoise's shell." and "Add some colour to the bandit-masked raccoon" are but two examples. I imagine some people might find this a little offputting or annoying, but they only appear on a handful of the pictures so can easily be ignored. Otherwise, I thoroughly recommend this colouring book!
I stupidly wrapped it in a rush without taking pictures - but it is a sturdy, 'thick' papered book. The cover is stunning with a combo of matte & gloss. The designes are absolutely gorgeous. Lots of fine detail - which isn't my personal taste but it is for the giftee.
If you want to get a better idea of the content of the book - go browse through a WHSmith, they have the book in store but for more than double the price. So just Look there & buy here!
Please ask me if you have any questions. Please also are in mind my review is based on my personal - but brief - experience with the book.
Note added 31/12/16: just had to order another copy of this for my husband, as he's been watching me colour in my Millie Marotta images, with my lovely new Staedtler pencils (I'll be getting him his own set of those too!) and he couldn't wait to get started himself, so I printed off some free Millie Marotta images found on the web for now, 'cos I'm not letting him borrow my book ;-). Hubby says he finds it very relaxing, and is far more creative than his usual war games on his iPad!
If you are reading these reviews, hopefully you are taking your potential purchase of a Millie Marotta colouring book seriously, in which case I would suggest considering the following comment, which I added to someone else's very helpful review:
It may also be useful to point out that there are some cheap rip-off copies of Millie Marotta's books out there; I've come across the Animal Kingdom version and the paper quality is terrible. The real thing has 96 pages, and is around 25cm square, not 24 pages and around 18cm square (sometimes described as 'travel edition' when UK based sellers get hold of copies to re-sell).
