I get the feeling that Miller's is running out of things to illustrate and show in the books. The earlier ones were much better. This new edition has alot of American items shown in it which we never see here in the UK and are not likely to. I think this edition caters more for the American market than the UK and European market and as a price guide is unrealistic - anyone would be very lucky to get the prices shown for any similar items they may have in their collection. What would be nice in the future is that Miller's publish a real "price guide".

Superbly presented book, and extremely comprhensive but I did feel that some of the antiques would be outside the scope of the amateur dealer. For instance those valued at say £1,000,000 or so would be unlikely to fall into the hands of the average car-boot sale forager. That said, the colour photographs are brilliant, and the descriptions very comprehensive. All round, an excellent addition to the collectors library, be they amateur or professional.

This edition was long awaited, they used to come out annualy around October, just right for a Christmas present! In 2010 Millers started the 2010-11 year idea which came out in April 2010. However, I am not at all dissapointed having waited 18 months for this edition. Packed with information, excellent quality paper and photo reproduction. The Amazon price added to pleasure.

As is usual, this guide is beautifully produced and as it's an annual production, it must be difficult to find new entries each year. The inclusion of so many American examples - obviously a nod to our wealthy 'cousins' and a revenue ploy, makes this addition perhaps less relevant for homegrown readers, who are possessors of English antiques/ rustic furniture/metalware etc. A small but heartfelt gripe,as the book is entertaining and informative.

Quality book after waiting so long it was worth waiting for...many colour photographs with excellent descriptions..
It is just a pity that Millers' are now combining the years and not publishing per annum as previous editions, I just hope that the Miller's Collectable is published soon.

I bought this to learn a little more about antiques and this book certainly caters for that. It gives you really useful and insightful information about such a variety of things. Would recommend to beginners.

This guide is heavily focusssed on the top end of antiques so is probably not ideal for the amateur dealer. The companion guide "Antiques detective" also from Millers is better for the amateur. This is however a very comprehensive guide for the top end and contains a wealth of useful information.

Bought this for my wife. It was for Christmas but was out of stock but arrived in time for her birthday and she was delighted with it. She finds it a good reference and just what it says in the title.
