Millennium after the Millennium

 (38)
7.61 h 30 min202013+
In 1996 Chris Carter followed up THE X-FILES with the darker, more sophisticated series Millennium, a gothic horror that pit actor Lance Henriksen against a thousand points of darkness. The series ended abruptly in 1999, but the darkness remains. Fans yearning for Frank Black's heroic return can revisit past nightmares and see glimpses of a hopeful future in the new feature-length documentary.

An excellent documentary that made me yearn for the originiality of the 90's!

I really miss the 90's. There was something so raw and pure about the TV and film that we experienced back then. Whilst incredibly cinematic TV shows are the norm in this day and age, I feel like we are missing out. This documentary bought back all the feels of being a horror/sci-fi fan in the 90's and I miss that so much. Millennium was truly a standout show that led the way for so much, and I don't think has ever been given the praise it truly deserves. This incredible documentary was made by fans, for fans. Please check it out. <3

A fascinating, thoughtful and well researched study of a brilliant show, Millennium, which deserves to be more widely seen. It's dark and heavy but also hopeful. Lance Henriksen's Frank Black is a character who sticks in the memory. Check out Joseph Maddrey's book on Henriksen's life and work, Not Bad For A Human. I hope this comes out on DVD or BluRay, but you can watch on Amazon Prime. Highly recommended!

Great to see a detailed look back at one of my favourite programmes. Would love this show to come back.
1 star deducted for the poor sound quality in some of the interviews

Haven’t seen it about to watch.... watched it!, fantastic.
Loved this show in the 90’s, in fact I still have the first ever broadcast of the pilot episode etc on VHS with adverts and bumpers etc, had a friend record in the states and post to me overseas.

I loved the Back to Frank Black podcast from ...2009 I think it may have been ran for a couple of years and loved the hosts James McClean and Troy Foreman, weirdly today I really felt like listening to the podcasts which are no longer available and they were legendary especially the ones with cast and crew and Glen Morgan was especially cool as he talked a little about SAAB, anyway I googled Troy Foreman in the hope I might reach out and see how I could download the podcast episodes even if they’re behind a paywall now and discovered an interview with him in TVWISE, I had no idea this existed!!! I’m excited, rented and about to watch!!!!!!
Got to rate it 5 stars without even watching it ....

Just watched it, really well done doc, gutted there were no interviews with Glen Morgan and James Wong love what they did with the second season and was a bummer because there’s nothing from them on the millennium dvds, the editing is great, I probably would have edited the part where Thomas J Wright talks about how he wasn’t too happy with the direction of season two I felt thats maybe not entirely where he was going but maybe the way it was edited unintentionally came across that way, Thomas J Wright is a great friend of the Morgans, Morgan and Wong were kind of lynched a little about the direction of season two and a sure season 1 has some of the best episodes but as a whole I think season two is an awesome season loved Kristen Cloke in it, season three not bad and Klea Scott was fantastic...what a show, great doc, music was good but maybe a little loud in the mix and could have been turned down a little and not running entirely through it needed to breath without in parts. Overall great doc and I hope TLF makes some more cool docs on other cult tv.

Interesting!
Absolutely fascinating exploration of the darker side of a cancelled television show. I was always more of an X Files fan at the time but having revisited the two series many years later see that Millennium deserves a lot more credit than it was ever given at the time. The origins of the wave of darker and more dramatic television can be seen here. Perfect examples shown throughout, a haunting score and interesting behind the scenes interviews this will certainly satisfy fans of the series, likely interest fans of the genre in general and even if you’ve never seen the show it could compel you to dig out a dvd and start! It certainly prompted me to revisit it.

So GOOD!
Amazing show that was ahead of its time and canceled far to early. This film explores all that there is to explore including several amazing ways that the show could be rebooted. It's fun to see the cast so many years later and listen the actors and crew discuss so passionately the show and their experiences while working on it how that passion is still very much alive with them even today. This is a MUST see for Millennium/X-Files fans or anyone that is a fan of 1013 and Chris Carter, Lance Henriksen and show runners from Homeland, The Man in the High Castle, Producer of Once Upon a Time, writers from the new Swamp Thing, DP of Game of Thrones..so many people in this thing that are heavy hitters today. Even if you have never seen the show there is so much information about the entertainment industry and how hard television is to work on, you need to see this film!
