We love great British cop/crime drama. The quality of stories, directing and acting set such dramas apart and Midsomer is up there with the best and has been going forever!! The switch from the "Nettles era" to "Dudgeon time" has been handled well and the standard of stories and the unique atmosphere of murder-galore county has been preserved. Can't go wrong with a Midsomer series....if you survive it??

I liked series 16 especially the Christmas episode. Now that there's going to be a baby Barnaby, it will be interesting to see how John handles fatherhood. I hope Sykes doesn't get pushed aside though, he's adorable. What I can't believe is them let Jason Hughes go without offering him more money, or working something out for him. He held the show together during the transition of Barnaby's.
Thanks Amazon for the super fast shipping. I'm in U.S. & it arrived in 8 days.

With series 16, Midsomer Murders appears to be back on course. The new Barnaby family is now more rounded and warm, the scenery ( so integral to the series) has bounced back and Neil Dudgeon has made the series his own, no mean feat after following John Nettles. I also give high marks to Gwilym Lee coming aboard, taking on the task (and succeeding) in transitioning from departing Jason Hughes. One last note, the writers have at long last given Fiona Dolman a more filled out role (no pun intended)
with the birth of Baby Barnaby, nicely working her pregnancy into the series seamlessly. Kudos to all.

I have to say that I preferred John Nettles as the main character in this part,he was perfect for it and although Neil Dudgeon is a very good actor its not quite the same as it was, however it is what I call a comfort show even although there are quite a lot of murders in it,some quite nasty ones too,I am also fascinated at the number of Midsomer Villages they have there too all very beautiful and looking at the houses you must have to be very rich to live there, and that too is part of its popularity as people like to dream that one day they could live in a house like those, without the murders of course, but the show as it is now is pefect to just sit down and relax and just enjoy it............

It seems incredible that Midsomer Murders is still going from strength to strength, but this series is very enjoyable. Neil Dudgeon plays Barnaby in a suitable understated, tongue-in-cheek manner, though he always looks a bit self-conscious to me.
'The Christmas Haunting' introduces Charlie Nelson, Barnaby's new sidekick, played by Gwilym Lee. I was horrified when I discovered that Jason Hughes had left the series. He was just so good at bringing a touch of wry humour to the relationship between himself and Barnaby and I'd still give him my vote as the best Barnaby sidekick. However, Gwilym Lee does a competent job and seemed to mature into the role in the succeeding episodes. He is quite ornamental, too...
There are five episodes in this series and the final one introduces baby Betty Barnaby. The relationship between John and Sarah Barnaby adds a nice dimension to the series; Sarah is a modern woman, competent, independent and developing her own career, very unlike Joyce Barnaby, traditional wife and mother, as portrayed by Jane Wymark.
The writers are still finding new aspects of Cotswolds life from which to draw their plots. This series features truffle hunting, a private airfield, celebrity chefs and fine dining, a haunted manor and that old chestnut, ancient churches and mad religious persons. One day, perhaps, the series will depict a religious person who still has all his marbles! The murders are pretty macabre and inventive, if occasionally unconvincing. The setting is as lovely, as rural and apparently peaceful as ever, in grotesque contrast with the evil deeds concealed behind this timeless beauty. In other words, classic Midsomer.

I have finished watching my latest set of Midsomer Movies. Loved them as usual. I do have the whole set of Midsomer Murders right from the very beginning. They have a pride of place in one of my DVD cabinets.

Series 16, an amazing achievement. Not only with the stories but the 100th episode and a new DS. Now we enter a full new era of the show. Neil coming into the show changed it in so many ways. He started in Series 14 which took off like a storm. Now having his own new DS instead of one who was with his predecessor.

Long may this new team reign. .

Midsomer Murders has to be one of the best drama's ever. I have all the series and have enjoyed every single episode. I just love all the eccentric characters and the villages. This type of thing is what us Brits do exceptionally well. I cannot praise this series highly enough and all I can say is "Bring on Series 17".
