I am not generally a fan of short stories, but I enjoyed this anthology. However, several of the stories really grabbed me and I would love to see fleshed out full novels , particularly of Cursed, and Gluttony. I want to know what happened next!

It's almost as if you have part of a book the idea of what could be then it stops had I realised this I doubt I would have bought it. What is there is interesting but seems unfinished.

Not bad. But most felt like the introduction to a book to come if not already written. But I like this author so that didn't matter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to spend a vacation day! 22 Aug. 2012

I absolutely love Shannon's writing, so I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my last afternoon of vacation than reading this collection of short stories and excerpts. It's great to be whisked away from reality and immersed into the eight different worlds that Shannon has described in this collection. I liked them all and will read everything she publishes, but would be delighted to see novels created from the ideas in Cursed, Priceless, The Chronicles of Sin, and Nocturnaphobia.

Keep up the fantastic work Shannon! :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Excerpts!! 5 Jun. 2012

I rated this 3 stars because I really like the excerpts Priceless and Chronicles of Sin:Gluttony. I am looking forward to reading the entire books. I felt the rest of the stories were too short like they weren't finished. Nocrunaphobia was my favourite short story although it gave me nightmares. Slide, click, click! gave me goosebumps I hate being chased!

5.0 out of 5 stars Culinary delight 7 Jan. 2013
By Cabin Goddess - Published on Amazon.com

I was lured in with a savory short, teased and sated with a taste of what's to come (her Virtue series) and overwhelmed with a venue of samples from creations of imaginary splendor!

There's a little bit of everything and it has been cooked up and mixed like a perfect cup of egg drop soup..tendrils of the whole with each tantalizing tale. Whether you like adventures, humor or a tinge of darkness with your "meal" you will get them all from Shannon's collection of short stories!!

One of the most diverse and delightful story tellers of the Indie Revolution!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I want MORE!!! 12 Mar. 2012
By AlwaysJenNS - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This collections of short stories and excerpts by author Shannon Mayer is absolutely phenomenal and I can't help but want more. While reading through it, I found that I wanted the short stories to be full length novels in themselves - that alone proves Shannon's extreme talent as a writor. I must say that the excerpts from Ingredients of a Cauldron MUST become part of Shannon's upcoming book list! Priceless and The Chronicles of Sin: Gluttony were extremely well written and I look forward to seeing more from those stories. As far as the short stories are concerned, each of them held my full attention and I found myself wanting MORE! Nocturnaphobia literally gave me nightmares! Thanks a lot for that, Shannon...

Overall, I give this excellent collection of stories 5-stars and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a few great reads at an excellent price. You won't regret this purchase, but you might find yourself begging for more as each story comes to an end!

5.0 out of 5 stars Short, sweet, and entertaining. 2 Feb. 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I've read other Shannon Mayer books, and really loved them. This was dropped to $0.99, so I figured it would be a good, quick read. That it was.

I agree with one of the other reviewers who said that Nocrunaphobia was the most chilling of all the stories. That one was enough to give me some unsettling dreams.

All in all, this was a worthwhile read. It does exactly what it's supposed to do: be entertaining, easily digestible, well written, and keeping you wanting more from the author.
