OEM install pack came and no problem. Rather annoyingly the COA sticker is very well stuck to the DVD packaging. There are instructions on the packaging to carefully peel the COA sticker off then apply it to the computer. Clearly, no one at Microsoft involved in trying this out bothered to carefully peel the sticker otherwise they would have seen the futility of the task. I would recommend that you don't even try, since you may need the key on the sticker, and if you are unlucky you'll obliterate it in the process of trying to get the damn thing off the cardboard DVD sleeve.

A bit expensive for what it does, but overall not bad. Shame it does not play MPEG2 movies/video properly anymore (or DVDs) and that you have to pay extra for Media Center - users now have to purchase & install extra software to perform such basic tasks which is just not acceptable to most users. However, if you can afford the extra time & effort & purchases then it makes a nice system.

Had to buy Windows 8.1 to run in VirtualBox as I needed it for software development purposes. An absolutely horrid operating system which is pretty much impossible to use on a desktop or laptop and forces you to log into it with a Microsoft e-mail account - I much prefer Windows 7 and will be sticking with Windows 7 Pro on my primary computers for as long as possible.

Installed well first time and all the applications work as promised by the upgrade adviser. I wouldn't say the PC is any faster with Windows 8.1 but start up and the response to input is a little sharper than it was with Windows 7.

This software loaded reasonably easily without much fuss. The Licence number on the wallet was printed exceedingly small and one has to be careful that it is read correctly. A "quick start" set of notes would be helpful before booting up to warn users about signing in with their Outlook.com account (if they have one) or about creating such an account. This user name and password is then used to access the computer, but a non-Outlook.com password can be used to access the computer with what is known as a local account. However, one is better using an Outlook.com account to ensure Windows updates.
Windows 8 is fairly reliable; I have had no issues with it and it runs well. The update to Windows 8.1 is worthwhile to implement.
Generally, the system does what I want - use of MS Office, e-mail, surfing, etc. However, like a lot of people I ask myself what the hell was wrong with Windows 7, or Windows Xp?
