I have got a 2 monitors connnected via both the HDMI ports and time and time again, the cursor jumps around on screen 1 randomly like it has a mind of its own. This issue doesnt seem to be dock specific as further online research into this shows others have had this. However, the fact that the display and settings keeps resetting each time I use Surface on its own i.e. detach from the dock, seems to suggest some display issue. Each time I plug the Surface back to the dock a lot of the display settings seems to reset (e.g. Outlook message window size) and you spend a minute or 2 adjusting it all back to how it was before.
However, the Surface Dock turned out to be butt ugly, badly designed and the one I received didn't work properly. The only thing in keeping with the elegant design of the Surface Pro 4 is the power connector, and even that is bigger and fatter than the standard one. The Surface Dock is a clunky dark grey box with ports on both sides, so it looks like a porcupine when it's loaded with memory sticks and other USB adapters. The lead from the computer to the Surface Dock is very short so you have to have it sitting on the desk and, with things sticking out of it either side, it's not a compact arrangement. No only that, but it comes with a second big clunky box, which is the power supply. That at least can sit on the floor out of sight. The mini display port connectors did not work with my monitor.
Apple wouldn't have designed this, and that's who Microsoft are competing against.
Yes for those thinking errrrr should I it's quite expensive don't I thought exactly the same then looked for cheaper options don't get it you won't regret it.
Whilst it is expensive, the build quality is great, and it works very well unlike some other 3rd party expansion ports I have used with Surfaces before.
I use extra USB ports and the Ethernet port most
