Product description

Review

"I like the very user-friendly approach and layout of the Illustrated book, as well as the pedagogy - the review skills and concepts. The students are reading and using the extra tips and information in the margins, which is a surprise to me because with the previous book I used they were overwhelmed by too much information. This 'hits it'."

"My custom Illustrated books cover the material well. My students tell me that they are written in a way they can understand. The books give excellent material but leaves the instructor room for innovative projects. The exercises are great learning tools. When the students tell me they are reading the text, I know we have made a good choice."

"Very user-friendly for students. Good graphics and activities. Provides the concepts in a way students understand."

I bought this book for a friend who hasn't used it yet but I worked through the first chapter myself as a test. I found it well laid out, the illustrations are very helpful, and the instructions easy to follow.

I don't know why the previous reviewer had to pay for the data files, I downloaded them for free. In the 'how to use this book' section in the first few pages are instructions on how to download them, it took a bit of exploring the website they give, but I managed the download in the end. Unfortunately they are necessary to complete the exercises in the book, so it's worth persevering.

If you want to learn how to do a specific task in Publisher you may find this book frustrating, as it works through its own 'cirriculum' at its own pace, but this makes it a good general training programme.

It's more expensive than I would like, but on balance I would say it's worth it.

This is an expensive book and one could be forgiven for assuming that it should be very good. The first surprise is whene you learn that the files that aid the training which you book says are free are not. The book is well laid out and comprhensive. The readership level is suitable for people who have no experience of desktop publishing.

I purchased MS Publisher 2013 because I needed to make labels. No manuals came with the software. When the cryptic notes MS offered on their website failed to help so I purchased this book. I found nothing helpful in there. Clearly the book is intended to be used as structured exercises not as a software reference. Very disappointing given the price I paid for it.

There are mistakes in this book. It's very frustrating to try to learn a program when the workbook has errors. In addition, some of the font is quite small and light. I have to use a magnifying glass to read it.
