Though very bulky, this book is a mine of information with a comprehensive index. Excellent value for what I paid for it!
Although the two books have different titles, covers and ISBNs the content is identical.
I bought both expecting this one (In Depth) to do what it says on the tin and go into much more detail than the Special Edition title.
This is a massive tome of 1020 pages. Like most US books, authors seem to be paid by bulk instead of usefulness and brevity. If you are familiar with Office then most of this book is irrelevant. If you are new to Office this is sure to put you off, there are better places to start. There is an index but the book is so big that finding any useful stuff in it is usually a waste of time.
The book is a very detailed description of each module of Office, how it works and a few basic tips; this is a Microsoft mouth piece. There is nothing about problem solving (yes there is, very simple advice) and there is no useful comparison to earlier versions of Office or what has been lost. There is nothing about what does not work in Office 2007.

This book cavers all the basics and a bit more, but once you have used Office for a couple of weeks you do not need it any more.
Ok though to get you going.
To be honest I bought this to get a better understanding of the Office applications. However I think I only used it twice as just clicking and playing was much more fun.Published on 28 Oct. 2012 by Dax
This book has so far done all I have wanted of it. Office 2007 is much changed offen for the worst from Office 2003. Read morePublished on 30 Nov. 2010 by Mr. Michael Finch
