I don't understand why anyone would want the alarm to go off before the water boils, The Swan's flat top is useful but no compensation for it's unreliability or difficulty in setting the clock & alarm, If you mean the light to set it has to be held, that is cured by a piece of non-slip stuff under the jug as mentioned above, the clock backlight is bright but not as bad as the one on the Swan.
When I purchased this one, they did not do a model with a Radio Alarm, and so now I'm going to have to purchase one of those!
Filling is easy. The tank takes exactly one teapot-full. The clock is huge and easy to set, and doesn't tick loudly like the Swan's did...though its hands are strangely invisible from any angle except straight ahead. The light is a gentle green which does not disturb at night, then flashes you awake in the morning. The high-pitched alarm goes off as soon as the kettle boils, so you do have to wait a short while for the tea to brew. It doesn't have a tray like the Swan, but all in all it is much the better of the only two teasmades on the market.
Instead of having an easier morning i wake up instantly annoyed and then end up going to the kitchen as i was anyway!!! It feels like i've found a shilling and lost a pound
It was used for the first time on xmas eve, but alas!-It would not heat up water to make tea.[Presumeably a fault with the heating element]. I
sent an Email to Premier Products,Explaining the problem,And was told they cannot do anything until 16/01/2009 as they do not resume work until then.Fair enough. Faulty Item collected by courier on 21/01/2009,
And as of todays date,09/02/2009 I still have not received any
correspondence,Or for that matter,A replacement product. 2 months after purchasing this product, I still do not own it!Not at all happy.Micromark Tea Express with Alarm Clock

The machine does what it says filling two mugs comfortably. Adding water is easy and the tea pot is not too heavy when full. Some may, but I don't, find the clock light too bright. Read morePublished on 25 April 2011 by Mrs. Sheila Duncan
