The automatic facility on our second Swan Teasmade stopped working. It was the second one, the first having been replaced under guarantee. So we bought the Micromark and it is excellent. There are only 2 very minor gripes that don't affect the way it works at all. One is that the jug can easily move and turn off the heater switch. I solved that by putting a small piece of non-slip material under the jug. The other is if you look at the LCD clock straight on you can't see the hands. But you can see them fine from any other angle. That doesn't affect the operation at all and in every other way it is absolutely super.

I don't understand why anyone would want the alarm to go off before the water boils, The Swan's flat top is useful but no compensation for it's unreliability or difficulty in setting the clock & alarm, If you mean the light to set it has to be held, that is cured by a piece of non-slip stuff under the jug as mentioned above, the clock backlight is bright but not as bad as the one on the Swan.

I purchased one of these to replace the previous Micromark version I had which did not last very long at all... (I don't think it made it to the end of its guarantee!) However, so far, this one has been better, and unlike the Swan model (see my Review for that one) does not make the tea taste funny because the water tank is not coated in 'Teflon' stuff. It's simple to operate, the light is useful and bright, and I like the alternative style of clock face/dial that glows a soft green with 'magic' hands.

When I purchased this one, they did not do a model with a Radio Alarm, and so now I'm going to have to purchase one of those!

The Tea Express was purchased to replace a Swan teasmade that had become very unreliable. The styling of the Express is much more modern, and the teapot is reliable...it doesn't need to be propped up against the connection spring like the Swan's did, to stop it disconnecting itself in the night and leaving you late for work with no tea!
Filling is easy. The tank takes exactly one teapot-full. The clock is huge and easy to set, and doesn't tick loudly like the Swan's did...though its hands are strangely invisible from any angle except straight ahead. The light is a gentle green which does not disturb at night, then flashes you awake in the morning. The high-pitched alarm goes off as soon as the kettle boils, so you do have to wait a short while for the tea to brew. It doesn't have a tray like the Swan, but all in all it is much the better of the only two teasmades on the market.

I received this from my girlfriend for Christmas as i love my tea. The first three days i got it to work fine either via the alarm or alarm / express tea combination. It is now the fourth day and i am so enraged with the awkwardness of it that i have come on here to see if i can get any help. Everything everyone is saying is true. I am sitting here now trying to get it to make an express cup of tea - it won't. Every now and then the express light comes on and you can hear it starting to heat up but then the alarm starts going off. And if you try and turn the alarm off then the boiling stops. I even left the alarm going thinking it may still boil but no - the alarm eventually stops along with the boiling.

Instead of having an easier morning i wake up instantly annoyed and then end up going to the kitchen as i was anyway!!! It feels like i've found a shilling and lost a pound

I bought this item in August 2010. It seemed OK at first, although the integral water chamber made cleaning out a little difficult. All was well until 14 months later when it suddenly developed a leak in the water chamber. However, because the electrics are directly underneath the water tank, it caused the item to fail, which also took out the power in the house as the main fuse blew. Apparently it is covered by a 2 year warranty, but when I tried to contact Micromark's customer care line, an automated message stated that the number is no longer recognised. Great! So what we have here, is a tea-maker that shuffles off it's mortal coil after fourteen months by ditching water onto it's internal electrical circuit. How safe is that? And don't waste your time trying to contact Micromark's imaginary Customer Service Line because it doesn't exist. I'm thoroughly disgusted. Don't touch this product with a barge pole. You have been warned!

I ordered this teas made on 12/12/2008 for a xmas present,It arrived 2 days later. Delivery-10/10.
It was used for the first time on xmas eve, but alas!-It would not heat up water to make tea.[Presumeably a fault with the heating element]. I
sent an Email to Premier Products,Explaining the problem,And was told they cannot do anything until 16/01/2009 as they do not resume work until then.Fair enough. Faulty Item collected by courier on 21/01/2009,
And as of todays date,09/02/2009 I still have not received any
correspondence,Or for that matter,A replacement product. 2 months after purchasing this product, I still do not own it!Not at all happy.Micromark Tea Express with Alarm Clock
