It was lovely being able to buy this album and share it with people who do not speak Japanese thanks to the English-Japanese songbook inside the cover! So top marks for that!

Concerning the songs themselves, the album is arranged in two parts and to be listened, I think, as one large exploration of the theme of a microcosm, or a small universe reflected inside every living thing. The first track Echoes, then Core and the final track FOES, are instrumental bookends and dividers, opening and closing the album and announcing the second half of songs. Throughout the track, a number of the songs make good use of the crackling radio sound we often associate with astronauts radioing in from space, especially Echoes. It's a haunting addition to the pieces that do well to establish the Microcosm theme.

I enjoyed the first half of the album from Calling to Planetarium very much. The songs are very much heartfelt and were beautiful to listen to, although each (of course) has its own flavour that will no doubt appeal to different listeners. I enjoyed Plantarium, as a slow moving ballad, and came to really like Sign, a song that I thought explored the growth of somebody through the pain of an experience, but the willingness of somebody to take a risk of encountering pain.

The second half batch of songs (after Core) are a contrast from the first - they are faster, choppier, funkier. Tonight was a fun, poppy song all entirely in English but apart from that and Ambience the rest all blur into one.

Each, however, to one's own and the album probably benefits the band overall from the two very different types of songs being explored. It shows they're breadth of style and there's probably something most people will like here.
