Children everywhere love the humorous writings of Michael Rosen. The Book of Nonsense is another excellent example of his work. It contains lots of incredibly funny rhymes and limericks, poems and wordplay that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, all offering lots of opportunities for smiles, giggles and laughing out loud. Particularly appealing is the one entitled "The Long and Amazing Story of What Happened When We Went to the Game Last Week" "I was bored / they scored / we roared." The whole text is embellished with Claire Mackies excellent illustrations, which add extra humour and enjoyment. (Reluctant readers particularly could benefit, as the humour will attract them where other, drier, books fail.) Short listed for the Kate Greenaway award, this is suitable for children aged 7 years and older. --Susan Naylor --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
An enjoyable book which might stimulate children's own inclinations to mess about with language. (Books for Keeps)
The author has a child's ear for word sound and an eye for nutty humour. Clare Mackie's crackling illustrations add verve and vigour to each page. (Junior Education)

I think 3 is on the young side for this book but ok with lots of help from an adult. I can imagine children finding it laugh out loud funny as they get older. I'm guessing but I imagine my daughter still to be reading this age 9 or 10.
I think anything by Michael Rosen is a good buy.
For young and old alike and thoroughly recommended.
And boy, did he get a lesson! These poems are totally crazy. They rhyme, they flow, there are loose 'plots' in some of them, but each is completely crazy.
We laughed at some, scratched our heads at others, but both enjoyed a few nights of reading delicious pages of words that didn't go anywhere and often took us to fantastical places of absolute tosh.
A book to share with a child, I would say. Readers could manage on their own, but it's just so much more fun to read together and with feeling.
Maybe ages 4-10 as an age range, though for the top half of this if reading independently.
The 1-star review is unfair as it refers to the seller, who was late to deliver, and not to the book itself, which is wonderfully silly - simply fantastic.
