The long awaited reissue of the debut album by post-punk band The Passions, 35 years after its original release. This special edition includes the 12 original album titles plus three related bonus tracks and appears on CD for the first time. The bonus tracks on this CD include the band's only Fiction single 'Hunted' and the band's first single 'Needles & Pills' / 'Body & Soul' on Soho Records. The master tapes of this independent single are long since lost, so we have used a vinyl restoration specialist to provide these two tracks. The album was produced by label boss Chris Parry, whose credits include The Jam, The Cure and The Associates amongst others. All the tracks have been sourced from the original production master tapes except tracks 14 and 15, as stated above. The CD booklet features the original album flip-side front cover (white front or black front cover), lyrics, plus detailed diary entries, The Passions First Album - a diary by Clive Timperley - from the related period of 1979 - 1980. There is also a UK discography.

On first listen its not too bad ...and from what i gather this album didnt include any singles BUT there are 3 bonus tracks which includes their first 2 singles and a b-side and track 2 or 3 on album is also a b-side so you have everything basically which is good.
So far i like about 4 songs on first listen but thats bound to improve and looking forward to 2nd cd cominv this week.....
Please Lovely Cherry Red record one another beautiful LP "Sanctuary" of The Passions never on CD with the title "The letter" Barbara sing in french: Si je te voix dans la rue je vais passer de l'autre coté,fou moi la paix.... We love you Paris Bataclan
Highly recommended to anyone who has an interest in 80s style analogue synth or film music.
A definite five star highly recommended purchase.
More than one producer lending their talents to slightly differing production techniques would continue to plague the Passions on their follow up "Thirty Thousand Feet Over China". Only their final LP "Sanctuary" seems to have a complete sound palate, although ironically its the one album that's dated the most.
However there is much to like on this nervy and quirky debut. And the addition of the bonus tracks is very welcome, especially "Hunted". Fantastic single.
Current label Cherry Red are heroes in my humble lodgings for their brilliant remastering and re issuing efforts.Similar to video reissue label Network, they are not afraid to dig deep and bravely present rare gems without the need to justify shed loads of sales.Long may it continue. Thomas Leer remasters chaps?
