If, like me, you enjoy popular psychology books, some of the research cited in this one will seem familiar, although there is a lot that I hadn't come across before. Kolenda has a very likeable writing style and he uses his examples to excellent effect. What I'll take from the book is an awareness of the methods being used on me. I now know why salespeople ask how I am, but I find it extremely irritating, so it tends to backfire.

Why I've only given it four stars is because I can't see myself using many of these techniques in everyday interactions, but it would be much more useful for anyone who works in sales, or needs to make presentations as part of their job.

I picked up this book (virtually) as it was included on Kindle Unlimited and I thought I'd have a flick through it. The further I read, however, the more I realised it was a thorough and sound review of the psychology of influence. It is written in a very accessible style, fully referenced and provides good examples of how to apply the techniques. The METHODS described here could really apply in so many different situations, it's definitely worth a read by anyone who wants to persuade anyone else of anything!

Good Book. Repeats and references Robert Cialdini a lot. I would say read Cialdini's book 'Influence' before or instead of this one.
