BUY THE REMASTERED VERSION from a reputable source. This is very much early PT. It is all instrumental and improvised, so not everyone's taste, but I like it and listen to it often. Psychedelic without being discordant. And they weren't taking it too seriously.

The label on the CD case advises the buyer to 'file under self indulgent' and that sums up a goodly part of this album. If like me you are a PT completeist, then it's a must. Not a 'classic' by any stretch but good fun in the main (except the painful dialogue at the end of the disk - a sort of new-prog Spinal Tap moment!)
The sound is kind of Liquid Tension Experiment meet Brand X, but a touch more laid back.
This band have now sgned to Atlantic worldwide - let's hope they are the new 'Pink Floyd' - they are certainly good enough.
Newcomers should start with 'Signify' to get a real flavour for this top band.

I don't generally write reviews, but sometimes you just have to tell someone how good something is. This is one of thoughs occasions.
This is a Jazz Rock Fusion album, for me they are either brilliant or awful. This is BRILLIANT with a lot of SUPERBLY DETAILED MUSICIANSHIP. Just the right balance, nobody over plays their part.

This album is spectacular, as are all the Porcupine Tree albums I have heard to date. I was introduced to them by a friend and I can't thank you enough. It is close to Pink Floyd but is also unique.

Having recently found the tree I am taking a this as a medium must have the content is not what I call typical tree and is an experiment into a new genre of jazzer angled rock
