With the release of their new album in June/July this year, this box set encapsulates both the raw energy of their live performances, and spans their blisteribng career from 1976-2001. I can't praise it enough! The DVD Priest Live is taken at the heght of their "Screaming for Vengeance" tour of 1983 in Memphis. With 4 discs of classic Priest spanning all their albums and a bonus DVD this set does exactly what it says on the tin!!!
Worthwhile purchase? Definately! If you love Priest or Metal in general, buy it now!!!!!
If you bought their "Flightcase" box set two years ago, then there isn`t much in this set that you won`t already have, as the band expanded all of their studio albums with whatever unheard live and studio tracks that were in the vault. The only rare material here is a few live tracks (taken from long out-of-print 45s) and one unreleased demo ("Heart of a lion", which has been recorded by lead singer Rob Halford`s band Halford). However, the DVD included will be of most interest. It was previously available as "Judas Priest live" on video and is a phenomenal concert recorded in Memphis on their 1982 "Screaming for vengeance" tour. It is a better visual document of a classic Priest concert than the "Priest...live" gig that is part of the "Electric eye" DVD. It has also been remixed into 5:1 for truely awesome sound.
The only gripe with a near perfect tracklist is perhaps not enough tracks from 1976`s classic "Sad wings of destiny" appear, as it is one of their finest albums and a benchmark for all of Heavy Metal. Otherwise all others are present and correct, the first Priest compilation to draw from their Gull, CBS and SPV back catologue, from debut "Rocka rolla" right up to the "Ripper" Owens fronted "Demolition". Unfortunately there is still a cracking live version of "Evil fantasies" (studio version appears here) from the "Living after midnight" 12 inch which has again slipped through the net, having not appeared on the last set of remasters. Maybe next time, lads?
First,I want to thanks to my friend,Gianny Painkiller again ,that made me as gift this order of this album.
Second,I want to thanks to Amazon, from their promptitude into sending me the product in time, that I ordered the album on 16 November 2010,and they estimated that I will receive the package untill on 13 December, but I was surprised to received it on 29 November already, special that I ordered it from Arad,Romania, and the product cames straight from Phoeniz,Arizona,USA.
Third,I want to congratulate the band for the idea of doing such kind of anthology of their music history from their beginnings `till to a period, and also I want to congratulate them in special for the idea of dress their music jewelries songs in such beautiful box set which looks like and have the smell and taste of luxury and about I must to say some words in the case in which exist fans who didn't bought that yet.
-The box set looks a square of 20/20 cm, is dressed in black leather, and is surrounded by 216 metal studs in tottaly,54 on every of the four parts of the square, and on the center of the box is printed the Judas Priest logo and the Metalogy title in silver characters, and on the inside of left part of the box is a photo of the band from a live in Memphis show, and on the backside of the box is stuck a color page which contain a photo with the presentation of the Metalogy box set,a short story of the band, and some about the conception of that Metalogy and the presentation of all 4 Cd-es and 1 Dvd with all songs, and on the inside of that right part of the box set is the location where are Cd-es on which is printed the Painkiller sign.Read more ›
