Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan has brought a new edge to the Cold War, and in 1984, a one-eyed man with a prosthetic arm appears in the country. Those who know him call him Snake; the legendary mercenary who was once swept from the stage of history and left in a coma by American private intelligence network Cipher. Snake is accompanied by Ocelot, an old friend who saved him from attack when he finally awoke.
Now, Snake's former partner Kazuhira Miller is being held by the Soviet forces in Afghanistan. Snake must undertake a solo mission to rescue Miller and prove to the world that the legendary mercenary is not dead and gone. That first step will lead to a path of vengeance against the very Cipher that slaughtered so many of Snake's men, and to a battle that will embroil the whole world...
What started in Ground Zeroes must finish with "V".

MGO represents the third iteration of the popular multiplayer game, redesigned with the familiar gameplay and aesthetic styling of its companion single-player campaign. With a focus on Tactical Team Operations, the game features a class system that more uniquely defines the strengths and abilities of player characters on the battlefield.
Key characters from the series, including Venom Snake and Ocelot, will also make appearances in the anticipated multiplayer feature.

So having a ps4 and remembering the great time i had getting through mgs 1 I decided to get tpp as I had heard this was going to be Hideo Koshimas final mgs surely this would be something special. And it is special.
Im still only 60% through the game. I like to ration it and its throwing new surprises up all the time.
Great imagination, great vision, great originality.
Surely thats art. Thats what this game is, a work of art.
The prologue was one of the best scenes i've ever seen coming from a video game, explosive and terminator like except better, visually impressive and very detailed even to the background layers from snakes muscle movements all the way through.......watch it and you'll see (no spoilers here)
(1) Detailed landscape, enemies, costumes, weapons, vehicles.
(2) Customize your weapons, vehicles, chopper, buddies.
(3) Manage a whole mother base full of staff and recruit staff. (even raise there morales by visiting the mother base now and then)
(4) You can take your enemies source of income.
(5) You can play Rambo, you go Hitman on enemies or if you don't like conflict
you can dodge and weave through enemies to complete your tasks (open world, play as you like)
After almost 200 hours of game play i feel that my enemies
have adapted to the way i play, i'm a tranquilizer sniper elite so most of my enemies now
are able to see me at greater distances.
Cons; (only one)
i don't enjoy the S ranking system at all, it ruins the whole free roam mission play through.
S rank means you've beaten the mission in under say 5 minutes with no kills/ without being detected which stands for Superb.
My fascination and love of metal gear solid like many people came from metal gear solid on the PS1, The game was amazingly deep for the time with an epic and interesting story. That followed well with MGS2 3 and 4. Then came Peace Walker, which was an PSP exclusive later comign to HD collection, this game is what the Phantom Pain is making, it is basically Peace Walker as a full on console game with an open world.
The gameplay is brilliant the graphics are amazing, the first hour of the game is amazing and sets up what you know will be an epic story, sadly..this is my major negative.. the story is very poor.. gone are the epic and weird boss battles of MGS games..Gone are the deep cut scenes, it's like because people complained about cut scenes they didn't cut them back they pretty much cut them out of the game.. There is no knowledge drop or huge link of characters such as skullface and the kid who is obviously psycho mantis. I admit I'm not fully finished with the end game missions but I've played for over 90 hours so trust me. The story aspect is a huge disappointment.
The game itself is really brilliant to play, every time you capture an outpost it can be done differently but the game begins to show flaws when you can go to an outpost and shoot everybody with a silenced sniper tranq gun in 10 seconds, however this does change later when enemies begin to wear heavy armour. The open world of the game is very pretty and large however there is very little in it other than small guard posts.Read more ›
I saw the original reviews for MGS Ground Zero and something sparked in my head. I was purposefully went and pre-ordered the game for the day of release.
For those of you who have never played MGS before, the new iteration of MGS is completely different and offers a new dimension of game play to the series. MGS5 is now set in a sand box open world environment. This will allow you to travel to any destination listed on the map.
For those of you who have already played the game I know what you are going to say, you will talk about how the first half hour is something different and then after that all the tasks are the same. I would have to agree in that the type of tasks to be completed are sameish, but not totally the same.
In comparison to previous MGS games there is now a new range of content for the player to access in the form of additional missions and equipment in the game.
I think that the new form of game play is just a ploy to tell a story. I like that I can replay missions and approach them from different angles to change the outcome. the level of customization from the development tree in the game is immense and fun to do and add a new layer to the MGS series.
This is a really good game that allows you to access the story of the game at your own pace. I would definitely recommend it to any PS4 owner. You may find some content repetitive but I like to approach each mission from a different stance.
You will be playing this for quite some time.

Credits every 5 minutes, long loading times, laughable plot, great concepts and gameplay but overall a lackluster game that was clearly unfinishedPublished 15 days ago by Craig Howarth
